Hey guys, i am just wanting a bit of advice to help me with upgrading my comp. I'll tell you what im running now and basically what i want to get. Currently:

Nvidia 6600GT 128MB

DFI Lan Party NF4-D

AMD Athlon 64 3500+

600W Power Supply

200GB Hard Drive, 7500RPM

17" Samsung Sync Master 740N

2GB of Ram

Well thats what im running now. Pretty Much i wanna upgrade the graphics card and the processor. My only query is... If i upgrade my graphics card to a 8800GTX 768MB will i need to update my motherboard or power supply? Also i want to look at buying a new processor and i have heard that right now Intel is better to go with, but i am looking at getting a AMD athlon X2 5000+. So heres what i want it all to be...

Nvidia 8800GTX 768MB

DFI Lan Party NF4-D

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+

600W Power Supply

20GB Hard Drive, 7500RPM

17" Samsung Sync Master 740N

2GB of Ram

So is that setup even possible lol. And if not can u please just let me know what is should change. Also running a 8800GTX and a AMD Athlon X2 5000+ will that allow me to crank up to full settings in games like C&C 3 and still have great framerate? Thanks in advance for anybody who can help me.

Well, you can't make that upgrade. The NF4 is a socket 939 motherboard. They are no longer making socket 939 processors, but some are still left. I would recommend the FX-60at $185. It's about the same as a 5200+ but is really short in supply, so you better buy it while it's still there.

Also, don't get an 8800gtx unless you have a high resolution screen (I would say 1680x1050 or above), otherwise an 8800gts 640MB version would be fine. The processor would bottleneck an 8800gtx anyway.

I think you should upgrade mobo, 'n buy a higher speed ram (factory OC's), why not buy AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ that should make video card runnin at max performance
