Hi all.

I bought LOTR Online and am about to start playing, character creation is very important for me since I only have time to play with one character due to work:

1- I solo quite a lot, what are the two best race/type for solo questing?

2- What's a good populated server? Im currently in NIMRODEL.

Thanks.

1- Guardian & Burglar probably. Though all classes can solo quite well.

2- Well, the most populated at the moment are Brandywine, Firefoot, and Arkenstone.

I would also say Guardian...since they have the hightest armour value, best evade and block chances, and they have moves that can hurt multiple targets at once.  Also a advance guardian has a self heal option, and light heal himself with every block and hit on a enemy.  The biggest downfall on a guardian is he can't spar very well with other classes because of his slow speed, and lack of adds.

Thanks, this really helps.

What bout LORE-MASTER? is he sort of the pet controller?

I ask this cause I play as a warlock in WoW, I let the pets tank and I hit them with spells from far, and I've gotten pretty good at that type of combat.

So can the warlock be compared to the LORE-MASTER, or more to another type?

Thanks Again

Burglars are excellent at soloing, but as stated above all classes can solo fairly well.  I play a Captain and it kills me I can only heal myself with my pet (very weak heal) or the group heal...

Burglars can cancel out one of their speical DoT type abilities for a quick heal, plus you can "sap" (riddle) while in combat allowing you to take multiple enemies at once!  Only problem is I don't know how group friendly they are.

Burglars are actually pretty helpful to groups. They start conjunctions.  Right now, since the game is still fairly new, most people don't know much about conjunctions (they really help with killing big things) but once people realize the value they bring to a party, burglars will be a very sought after class.

Right now most groups seem primarily to focus on getting two classes, minstrels and guardians.  This will most likely change as the player-base and game matures.

As others have said, most classes can solo without too much trouble.  My champion for instance is a beast at soloing.  My Lore Master can solo pretty well too but the pet path-finding is still a little buggy ATM.

My best advice is to pick the class that interests you the most and roll with it.

Yes, LM is the warlock of this game. I play an LM, and it's awesome. Theres very few of us out there, and people dont really appreciate what they do for your group, but I love playing one. And I solo just fine.

most people say Guardian, i will say try Champion. at the moment, all servers seem very populated which is nice. as for soloing, it's easy early on, but it's much easier to complete quests while in a fellowship. as you gain levels, you're going to find that you're going to need to fellowship alot more to complete quests.

The nice thing about this game is it tells you which quests need a fellowship and which are solo quests. Kind of a nice feature, as I knock off my solo quests, and then I make a good group and knock off as many fellowship quests as I can.

Champion is a dps beast, puts out a lot of damage in a short time - nice to solo. Game is set to change the class soon though - how badly is unknown.

Lore-master is on the weaker side and has to rely on his pet to take and keep agro - hard with the poor pet pathing LOTRO has. Weak DOT, fair nuke, decent but slow heal to ally or pet, decent stun

Guardian has great defence and armor, but low dps - he wins the fight but takes a while to do it

Hunter ( if equipped well) can put out a lot of damage quickly, doesnt melee too well.Decent arrow based nuke and DOT.

Burglar is fun, especially once he gets his pickpocket skill.

Minstrel is in great demand for groups, ok soloing.

Thanks for all this info guys, it really helps.

I have started a Guardian Male Human, since I named him the same as my character in Diablo 2, and he was a paladin that kicked butt....lol.

I'm in the Nimrodel server, I just hope it gets populated so I have people to help.

I'm thinking that there aren't that many servers, and here in Australia LOTR is sold out, so I imagine all servers will become populated.
