I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit w/ an eVGA 8800GTS [640MB] and a 4200+ processor [Dual-Core]. So, which version should I get? How many people are online on the PC version?

get pc. Its cheaper, and it puts your good graphics card to use. Plus you got dx10.

Easily the pc version, considering you're going to get better graphics and it's cheaper. As for buggines (i doubt its that buggy) there will be patches. Even the 360 gets patches for its buggy games.

In short, PC.

i have it on PC, theres no bugs BUT performance is pretty poor. i have to turn things down to pretty low settings for the system i have. but even then it looks pretty good and despite the somewhat low FPS (around 25) it still looks smooth because of the motion blur. I also heard theyre going to be releasing more DX10 content soon so id say PC version all way...

keep in mind you must have Valve Softwares "Steam" installed to install and play the game.

Actually, they're both $39.99 and the DX 10 version doesn't work on my computer, it always crashes. As for the DX 9 version, it works perfectly and I have all the settings on high. Also, my 360 and PC are connected to the same monitor at the same resolution when gaming [1280x1024]. Also, when I played the PC version [DX 9], I got frames from 35-52 frames, never below 35. So, it was pretty stable for me. As for achievements, I don't really care about them, they're just a bonus to me.

I'd say 360, I haven't heard of anybody getting the demo to run well on their PC even with top of the line hardware.

Even if future patches end up making the game look, and run better eventually the short term disappointment of the demo kept alot of PC gamers from buying this title. You're likely to have a much better online community on the 360, and guaranteed good graphics not the promise of better graphics at some future date (if at all).

PC has tons of bugs... Alot of people seem to have trouble getting steam to run the game. Multiplayer doesn't work (Seen about 1 game every 15mins during the evening) and the singleplayer is just too short.

360 lags like no other (Video lag). Multiplayer is a bit better and theres no trouble with installation.

Capcom support of this game is just ridiculous. They spend more time building maps than fixing HUGE errors in the games programming. As it is there is NO chat system on the PC version and some players lag, which gives them a huge advantage.

Get it for 360. I played it on both and the PC one is just a crap port. The game was made for a controller, and it runs well and looks good enough on my HDTV.

I would go with the 360 version as it's the same price and less headaches. I doubt a PC community exists.

He can plug his xbox360 controller into his pc.

So far the only thing against the pc version is poor performance, however, those complaining have last generation video cards. You have an 8800 thread starter, you will play with style.

I told you guys, I got about 38-55 FPS.So, video lagging wouldn't be an issue w/ me. Also, I have the Wireless Gaming Receiver, which I use for ShadowRun; Halo 2 PC; etc.

I have both the 360 and the pc version, with both the pc and 360 going in to my 22" monitor,Im flicking between both and I can honestly say PC hands down.Graphics and smoothness blow the 360 version out of the water.I have a similar system to you too.

Better idea.

Dont bother to buy it. Instead...buy something else, like crackdown or DJ Icon or anything for your 360 and wait for the PC version of BIOSHOCK. ANd 'teh' CRYSIS.

Hmm, so we're kind of in the same boat, since both of my systems are also connected to a 22" monitor. So, how is it online, on the PC version? How many players are there online?

Sorry for the double-post, but how do you know I don't have CrackDown or that I don't like Def Jam: Icon? Also, I had CrackDown, then, I returned it and I didn't like Def Jam's demo, as for the PC version of BioShock, I have enough money for both, especially if BioShock is only going to be $39.99 at Circuit City.

I would rent it for 360 and then return it once you finish it. Hell, I didn't even get to finishing the storyline. The multiplayer was good fun for a little while, but the game doesn't have enough to offer to be worth a purchase. I sadly made the mistake of getting it the day it came out, but atleast I only had to trade in a few games to get it.

But I have a 360 controller for use w/ the PC, so controls wouldn't be the problem. The problem is, knowing how many users are online on the PC version and how many are online on the 360 version. Since, I'm sure the PC version looks better and the game runs pretty smooth for me, it wouldn't matter which version I get. That's why I want to know how many players are on the Lost Planet PC version.

Do you have Direct X10 installed? When I got my 8800gts I had to download DirectX10 from Microsoft's website, then the demo worked. The DX9 version runs much better, and the DX10 version doesn't make many things look significantly better. I personally preferred the PC version, despite the performance problems it can run into.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate, so it's automatically installed, at least when I type dxdiag in the Run box, it says I have DirectX 10. So, how many people are online, on the PC version?

So, once again, no one has read what I've typed in my past posts. The DirectX 10 version of the game doesn't work on my computer, it just crashes, the DX 9 version works perfectly though. All I would like to know now is how many players there are online on the PC version.

I'm really not sure how many people play, I doubt it's extremely populated, but considering it's a fairly new game, I'm sure there are plenty of servers you'll be able to choose from. Like I said about the DirectX10 thing, you probably only have the DirectX9 software right now, even though your card supports DirectX10. Try downloadingDirectX10 from Microsoft's website, and then after installing it you should have no problems.

All I can find, available for download is the 9.0c DirectX version. Can you link me to the DX 10 download page? Thanks.

so there you go and answered your own question you want it for online gaming, since it came out on xbox first it will have a bigger population, so i would still recomend that you go and get that game for the 360

All that tells me is the 360 version has plenty of online users on Lost Planet. I want to know about the PC version. I didn't say I want the one w/ the most users, just want to know am I going to be lonely online.

The game is much easier to control on the PC than it is on the 360. But if you're looking to spend a lot of time in MP, the 360 is the hands-down winner. I spend more time waiting to get into a match on the PC than I spend actually playing in one. The PC version is still buggy, but the DX10 version is impressive if you have the hardware. In short, until Capcom patches the PC version several times, you're better off with the 360 version.
