So I am a WoW player/ other mmorpgs and have recently purchased what i feel is a good custom made gaming desktop computer. When discussing the computer with a local technician he said it should he able to run WoW on the highest graphics spec easily with no problems. however when I try this is still find that, although it can run, I have lag and fps problems. Is this down to a problem in my system or a problem in my wireless internet connection. If so I am clueless as to internet connection speeds etc and could I get some advice on what would be optimal to play mmorpgs at a consistently high speed with? also is there a website or programme that can test my connection speed? Here are my specs compared to the recommended system requirements for WoW: Cataclysm: CPU Recommended: Dual-core processor, such as the Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 You Have: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 Processor RAM Recommended: 2 GB You Have: 4.0 GB OS Recommended: Windows® System XP/XP64/Vista/Vista64/7 You Have: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit Video Card Recommended: 256 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600 or ATI Radeon HD 2600 or better You Have: AMD Radeon HD 6450 Features: Recommended attributes of your Video Card Required You Have Video RAM 256 MB 2.7 GB Hardware T&L Yes Yes Pixel Shader version 3.0 5.0 Vertex Shader version 3.0 5.0 Free Disk Space Recommended: 25 GB You Have: 775.7 GB It's also important to note the computer never over heats and stays at 26.1 degrees at all times. Edit* Having run a Connection speed test it says my MS is 24, my download speed is 9.86mbps and upload rate is 1.03mbps. Is this good or bad? Thanks for your help!

you can go to www.speedtest.net to test your internet speed.

your pc looks good but graphics card could be a little better.I'd get like a hd 6670 or 6770 that should be enough for you to play on ultra settings.

Thats not a high end pc Your cpu is OK but your graphics card is in the low end thats why you have fps problems Good think nowdays with $100 you can get something thats 4-5 times faster than your graphics card

Depends on your power supply If you have a decent power supply 6770 for $110-115 or even better a 6850 for about $130 are the best choices ( can play most games at max settings with 6850 even at 1080p ) If you dont have a good power supply and dont wanna change 7750 for also $110 is also a good choice ( almost as fast as 6770 and consumes very little power )

That would be a great update but make sure you have a good power supply ( a decent 500W one for this card ) Since you can spend abit more 6870 is abit slower costs less and consumes much less power ( a decent 450W for this one )

much better but i doubt your power supply could run it. you wouldnt need to make a compromise and switch the powersupply as well (more than likely anyway). like say hd 6850 or a gtx 460 and then a powersupply to match

Also look what brand/model it is . A 500W unknown low quality part wont cut it for a gtx 560 while in the meantime a 400W qood quality one can be enough

looks like your all set just need to buy the graphics card and your done.Make sure your power supply has a 6pin connector. Some graphics card will come with a free 6pin adapter.

Its custom built using individually selected components by Cyberpower so I don't think its searchable. Other than that stuff I mentioned before or all there is on the power supply is a big table of watts and volts. The receipt says OEM PSU 500w

It seems Cyberpower uses Apevia psu which arent good. A 6850 would be rather a safe bet if you dont want to change the psu A 560ti though it is likely to be ok but you never know with low quality psu

i dunno how much you paid for the computer but lets just say that the computer is pretty much low spec. Hopefully you didn't pay more than $500 for it....The computer should be able to play WoW no problem with a better graphics card. I recommend the radeon 6850 or the radeon 6870, both will be great for WoW.

Here is the radeon 6850

Ah okay excellent, thanks for the advice. Yeah the system, along with surround sound system, 22inch monitor, gaming keyboard (all the trimmings, neon lights and all that fitted with a pretty nice see through hub) came too £722 which is about $1000? so not sure if that a good deal or what (probably not by the sounds of it) but its a decent computer for me to start getting into hyping it up, bought about 3/4 of a year ago. Now to figure out where the graphics card actually is, how to get it out and how to put a new one in :S bought a guide book

Yeah for everything sure its a bit high but still is not a rip off Just look at the sticky here in computer forums how to build a pc ( it shows how to install a video card ) or watch a video on youtube how to do it. Its one of the easiest thinks to upgrade on a pc

well if its $1000 for everything its not such a bad deal, but the price is still a bit high. there are still room for upgrades in that pc too, and gaming wise you're not too bad off.

It is a common misconception that anyone can run WoW maxed since "the game came out in 2004". If you really want to max it, you will need one of the recent processors, something like the i5 2500k. In terms of a graphics card. 6870 would be good enough.

Just remember next time you spend £700 on a pc put more than £30 towards the graphics card.
