That's Right guys, just completed the demo and its BLOODY amazing, my specs are as follows:

single core 2.2ghz processor

Ati x850 256mb

1gb ram

Ran it on max settings @ 1280x1024 with 2x AA at 40-60 FPS, 50ish most of the time. and it dropped to around 30 at the end of the demo where the huge fight was going on, once it calmed down went straight back upto 45-60, the demo at NO time jagged or clunked or w/e you call it, was smooth as silk the WHOLE way through, even when i tried 4XAA it was fine, so to clear things up guys, even on low end this game kicks arse!!

Edit: oh and this comp is around 2.5 years old!

LOL...and your machine (like mine) doesn't even meet the Crysis' minimum requirements. :) It's nice to see developers making great looking games that play well on non-bleeding edge hardware.

Singe 2.2GHz,1GB RAM and X850 256MB run max you say? looks like this game is even better optimized than the 2nd Call of Duty if what you say is true.

I think the OP is just exaggerating. Sure i can see your rig getting that FPS on max when you're looking away from the action, but when you're in the action(Which is by the way most of the time) there's no way you're getting 60fps or even 30fps on average. My rig is better than yours(7600GT, X2 3800+, 1.25gb RAM) and in the demo I entered the teens when in serious firefights(Usually I was in the low twenties in firefights) There were time however when my FPS skyrocketed to 60 or over, but that was always when I was facing away from the action at hand or I was in a closed off corridor. You're probably taking those few bursts of FPS as your whole experience with the demo. Most likely you averaged within the low 20's.

i remember the only demo that would play smoothly on my old laptop back in 2003 was Call of Duty. They're such awesome optimizers. I was able to put it on some of the highest graphic settings with my 7600gt and it still played smoothly. Amazing.

The OP thinks that he runs the game on high settings, infact he doesn't.

In order to run CoD4 on High settings you need a SM3.0 capable card and the X850 is only SM2.0b cabable, therefor the game runs on Low/Medium settings (dependson the highest settings that the SM2.0 is supported).

I have a p4 2.8 HT and a x1950pro 256 and it runs on max settings (no aa) at 1280x1024 @ 30 - 50 fps. Looks very sharp and nice, great engine for sure.

Nvidea 6200SE Ram: 1,5.

Never thought of it but with my 6200SE I still can play this game, on safe mode though, but I've played CoD2 on safe mode either. So does it means 6200SE = 6600 ? I can't figure out how I else can play this pretty smoothly on lowest grpx. I will play this game a long long time

Infinity Ward is great, and they still consider themselves PC developers, as they've never released a game not on pc.

Hmm....I haven't followed the dev news of CoD4 that much. However I have read in a couple different places that CoD4 is still using the same engine CoD2 did (No doubt heavily modified to make things look prettier). If that's the case, then it wouldn't come as a suprise to run on a lower end rig. So can anybody confirm if it's still using the same engine? Normally I wouldn't believe it, but from the screenshots I've seen from the demo....Well, I'm not impressed.... Not nearly as good looking as the trailer made it out to be.

It's possible.

And the game looks MUCH better in action than it does with screenshots.

that's actually not too bad. personally i'm not going to bother attempting the play the game seeing how my system:

--------------------------------------

athlon xp 1500 running 1.3 Ghz

1gb ram

128mb radeon 9600SE

---------------------------------------

can barely run the original far cry. one could say my comp is super-mega-ultimate low end, but surprisingly games like doom 3 and hl2 were able to run on my comp all thanks to the optimized graphics engines that were implemented.

to make a tired point, i'm glad infinity ward is going down the same path of making sure everyone can play the game even on the less-than-stellar computers that some people still have. maybe when i don't have 3 midterms coming up i'll d/l the demo and let you guys know how it runs on a comp like mine.

i'm just glad it's infinity ward doing this game though. to this day i still play the original call of duty

I HATE YOU GUYS.

I have a reasonably good system but I can barely run the game at 1680x1050 with no AA and get 30 fps.

An X1950 XT, E6400 and 2 gb of ram should do better than that, well, that's what I thought. I've never gone above 40 and I sometimes dip to 20. It's not overheating and I got the fan runing at 100%

Its my native res. Anything under degrades quality. And still, I'm using no AA. The TC has AA and hes running it at 1280x1024 on a much older card than mine. I swear that somethng is wrong with my comp.

The mechanics of the game haven't changed all that much since COD1, which is why the team have got it up and running on fairly modest CPUs. People really overestimate the importance of CPUs compared with GPUs (of which yours is pretty quick) in some games. COD2 ran well on an athlon XP 1600 (with a 6800 ultra)- trust me I had one!

The demo doesn't allow max settings. It caps them at medium.
