well its that time again and im in the market for a new computer. and im really considering a macbook pro. but i was wondering if thats a good idea or not cause i still want to game (using bootcamp to run vista). the mac id get would have 2X 2.4ghz, 2gb ram, a 256 video card etc. and i plan to have this thing for a while... is this a good plan or not cause for what im spending i could get a pretty nice pc...
If you are sold on a laptop then that's a good choice since it comes with a GeForce 8600M graphics card. You'd end up paying more for it than a good PC laptop but not a whole lot more.
I got a MBP for work and it's awesome. I haven't installed bootcamp tho. There is a pretty steep cost premium for macs. When i got mine, there were similarly equipped PC laptops for $1000 less on newegg.com. I got mine for mac os, though. It's way more mature than vista. If you're just going to game, why not just get a tricked out PC laptop? But if you want to use iLife or take advantage of the rest of OSX, go for it without hesitation.:D
I have the older model of the macbook pro with the atix1600m and I was able to play Bioshock on medium to high settings via Boot Camp. OSX is amazing for everything else. So I'm sure you'll be able to play any games you want for a while. Also I believe that the ability to run any Operating System you want and the sleek design is worth the little extra money if you have it. Also a dell or HP laptop with the same specs would cost about the same.

I don't know if I'll ever understand what makes people buy macs. Especially people who play video games. What is the allure? Why buy one when a pc will work fine? Is it because they are shiny?

its because they work, they are easy to use, they are fast. and most importantly people use computers for more then gaming, in whcih case a mac is superior.

Congratulations!! Now you'll have the best of both worlds. OSX and Windows. Now I really, from deep within my heart, recommend you to buy and iLap. It's worth the money a billion times and you won't regret it.
