Is there a device I can buy to allow me to connect a macbook pro to the internet without a wifi connection or being in a hot spot?

its called a broadband card. you can get them from most of the major cell phone providers. 60 bucks a month for a two year contract but usually the device is free and will work anywhere you get cell phone reception. if you go with sprint you get the 4G unlimited network which is faster than most DSL plans

You can look into getting Clear service as well...I don't use them or anything, but it might be a solution

problem with clear is it has VERY limited availibilty. if you go with spring you get 4G where availible or 3G if not and with verizon you get 3G anywhere...lol we sell them at best buy so ive had it ingrained in my head
