Does anyone remember those nifty MACRO buttons on old controllers?

Where it would record your exact keystrokes and timing, then play them back when you hit the button. Thus, allowing you to record and play back complex combos with minimal effort.

I'm trying to do the same thing for PC games. Anyone have any recommendations for software?

There are quite a few programs that can do that, even ones that recognise voice commands and turn those into keystrokes.

Look here.

Thank. But I've already tried a whole bunch of those.

Most of those programs aren't designed for video games, but rather workflow.

One of the major issues is timing. Many of those programs will recognize a key, however won't record how long the key was pressed down for. If you want to adjust the timing of how long a key is pressed for, you have to modifty the script. Which takes a lot of effort. That makes them fairly useless for video game macros.

I really wanted a macro program w/ a "live record" button...

Thanks Pelvist!!

I haven't actually tried that one yet, but it led me to a program that looks like it will work great:

JitBit Macro Recorder!
