I know they are completely different games but my birthday is coming soon and i can't decide which game i'm gonna get. I love games with great stories and i played the demos of both games. Metro 2033 was so thrilling it was fun. Mafia II was also interesting especially with the reviews saying how great the story is. What say you? I'm leaning more towards metro 2033 at the moment because it's so exciting and thrilling. Also, which game takes longer to finish without any side quests?

Both are pretty good. How about the STALKER series? You can get all three for $50.

I've only played Mafia 2. I can say that I really enjoyed it. In my opinion Mafia 2 had a great story, but others seem to disagree. Also Mafia 2 doesnt have much to do other then completing the main story. Im pretty sure there are no side quests. it took me about 8-10 hours to complete. Hope that helps

That is a tough one, I rated both an 8.5. Though like you said, they are both completely different. In my personal opinion if you are looking for story go with Metro 2033. Mafia 2 had a good story, but the pacing is terrible for most of the game and the ending is a complete letdown. Both have a great atmosphere, I can not really compare those as they are both awesome yet so different. As for length, Mafia 2 is a little longer. However, it needed to be longer due to the poor explanation of certain things in the story. I liked both game's gunplay, both felt solid and did what they were suppose to do.

I liked Metro 2033 a lot more. Maybe because I really enjoy games with atmosphere like Dead Space and Penumbra episodes. Just a forewarning, Metro 2033 is a beast on your GPU. I had to overclock my GTX 460 1GB (in my sig) in order to get playable framerates on DX9 and DX10. I'm not even going to touch DX11 because the difference is hardly worth it for me. Of course, keep in mind, I'm playing at 1920x1200 resolution. You may be playing it at a lower res, and see much better FPS. I haven't tested lower resolutions yet. Check out benchmark reviews first. My vote goes to Metro 2033.

Had fun with both games to be honest.

Metro lasted a bit longer, atmosphere was better and has better graphics. Mafia2 has better story and music.

As miller said above me, I think both games are very solid 8.5/10 games.

i ran Metro 2033 just fine (there are slowdowns with many enemies but not game breaking enough) with my ol' trusty 8800 GTS 320 Superclocked. I just game at 1280x1024 and i don't even have a quad core just a core 2 duo. I loved Dead Space that's why i'm leaning more towards metro. besides, metro 2033 also has an interesting story.

You obviously have not played Mafia 2. Mafia 2 = linear game with an open environment. GTA 4 = sandbox game. Is it really that difficult. The developers stated time after time it was not a sandbox game.

I played the demo, and I don't understand how I was not dead after being shot like 1000 times.

It must be difficult, because GTA 4 isn't a sandbox game. Open world/free roam, sure, but not sandbox.

i bought Stalker SoC months ago from Steam. I didn't enjoy it. I prefer linear games where i am directly told what to do and where to go. I was always lost at Stalker that it got so boring fast.

Personally In your situation I would choose the game that is more optimized, which in my personal experiences would more or less be Mafia II. Unless i'm missing something and Metro 2033 has been updated to be alot more optimized then before.....

Metro 2033 seems pretty optimized to me, on SLI it uses 70% on both my gpus, that's really good SLI performance. I ran in dx9 and got like 60+fps at all times.

Well, you're talking about SLi here. Most people have single GPU setups with mid-range budget cards. Metro 2033's fps jumps all over the place especially on the bridge level. It went from 50 to 40, to 15 fps, then back up again to 30. It isn't optimized at all. It's a great game, but I cannot recommend someone buying another graphics card to SLi just to play one game.

Metro 2033 even thought replayability is low and there is problematic AI sometimes during game.

Metro 2033 for sure, even if your PC can't run it wizzbang ultra, its still quite an immersive game, even though the story itself isnt anything epic, you just get a great feeling of the characters and their experiences in the Metro.

In my opinion it has high replayability, another thing, Metro 2033 gives you complete freedom on how to complete a level, whether to go in guns blazing or to take a stealthy, easily one of favorite games.

no its not better optimized, try turning on physyx for mafia 2. Without all the extra eye candy features, which arent even available in mafia 2, metro 2033 runs way smoother on even lesser hardware.

If I had to pick I would choose Mafia 2 for the atmosphere, voice acting, story and fun factor.

Metro 2033

- Nice Atmosphere

- Good Storylines

- Great graphic (if your PC can handle it)

- Great FPS combat

- Difficulty is quite hard (for me)

- Some area is too dark

Mafia 2

- Great Storylines

- Great combat gameplay (especially the gun fighting)

- The settings are really fit in to the game

- Nice soundtrack, some are old but still the best and create some nostalgic feelings

- Great voice acting and each character is unique

- It's NOT GTA series (You know what I mean, Mafia 2 isn't an open ended game as good as GTA)

- You can't shoot from inside the car

You Decide:D
