I'm only getting 50-60 FPS in Mafia, and with my specs I thought I would get a lot higher. I have the latest audio and video drivers. Is this normal? Here are my specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit

Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz

4 GB Ram (3.3 used)

256 MB nVidia Geforce 8600GT

Nah, you have a 8600GT, I have the 8500gt and it runs like that.

I don't remember whether mafia was like this, but some games used to have an option to lock fps too so you might just look in the options menu. 60 does seem low for your system if its not locked.

Well, the 8600GT is better than the 8500GT. What resolution are you running at? I'm running it on 1440x990. No AA as well.

Well, I don't see anything locking it. Vertical synch is turned off.

I have what is probably a stupid question but why do you care? 32 fps creates the illusion of motion and by 50 fps that illusion should be completly smooth. Is it dipping below 50 fps like you are hardware limited somehow or were you just curious why it was happening?

Well, when there is like bunch of cars (like 20 ) it starts to lag. Also, some of the mods for it lag as well. I pass the recommended requirements by a mile and so I thought I should be getting really high fps and no lag at all. And also, I believe I do have the latest patch. Not sure, anybody know how to check what version the game is?
