Mafia...what's all the commotion?

I'd like everyone and anyone that enjoyed Mafia to tell me why they did.

Don't get me wrong here - the game was decent. I've played about half way through with a buddy in the past, but I was never impressed with it. I just kind of felt that Mafia was a knock-off on Grand Theft Auto 3 that came out a bit before Mafia did.

So please, tell me what I seemed to have missed with Mafia. Because I didn't feel the grahpics where any better then GTA 3 and the gameplay seemed to be about the same. I wasn't very impressed with the story....so maybe I missed something?

First of all GTA games are the best of their genre imo
Mafia is good, especially the car races and certain missions
i guess the fact that you are in a full on real world of mafia is whats exciting about the game

Personally i enjoyed it, apart from the fact that you cant just steal any car you want, having to unlock them is kinda strange.

Without cheating, using the shortcut, I would never have gotten by the racing part either. Other than that I absolutely freakin' loved the game and can't wait for the next one.

Great story, much better graphics than GTA, better than GTA 3 ( but not better than Vice City and San Andreas )

car race (racing track) is the most stupid mission and the hardestninjadxt

There a trick to beat that mission:

After you go through the first checkpoint turn left down what looks like a shortcut. Keep going until another checkpoint message appears, and then press NUM0. This will put you in front of the finish line in first place, just repeat this until you win
