before this sounds like some sort of goof or re-itteration of a known fact its a different kind of free stuff

meet the spokesman for KLIP this company based in silicon valley has come up with a way to marry games and real life rewards without being elitist.. namely achievements

their company hopes to tie game achievements like those found on gfwl or steam of xbl to ACTUAL rewards. kill 1000 zombies in l4d2 get a free cheeseburger at carl jr's for example is what im talking about!

granted this means advertisements will surge into games like never before but the idea is to promote the player the achieve elation and be rewarded with a diserable item he can actually carry away from it. it does seem a bit capitalist to me but at the same time if you got a cheeseburer for every 10th headshot would you REALLY be complaining?

So where would that end? Where would they draw the line? Every 2min in game you see some kind of advertisement? And even then it would never work... You know The world is large... lots of countries, stores, locations...

A cheeseburger probably costs like 2 dollars, a game at least 50. I don't think this is going to make much of a difference :P. Also, how are people going to reclaim these rewards?

e-mail you coupons :P

and assuming things work out id imagine rewards would scale like 25 bucks off anything at bestbuy for a tougher one and for an uber rare achievement maybe a free pair of shoes or for 1st person attainments free stuff like tv's n such

As do I

As long as advertisements don't actually interfere with the gameplay itself, then I'm down for this idea. Just having the brand in the achievements themselves would be fine, imo.

Heh. I'm sure they'd consider demographics when advertising in game.

Though I can't imagine I'd be much happier if I saw a billboard for Axe body wash, Mountain Dew, or anything else meant to appeal to the back-wards baseball cap wearing "ice me bro" type that ad companies seem convinced is a typical gamer.

See, the thing is, life doesn't always work out according to plan so be happy with what you've got, because you can always get a hot dog.

That's stupid you can just take all the money you saved from pirating, and buy yourself like 50 cheeseburgers. Although I have to agree this is an idea I was hoping Steam would have one day. Like depending on how many achievements you have, maybe you could get 20% discount off a game or something like that so it feels like your actually getting rewarded for your achievements.
