Mandatory pc games.

What are the games that every pc gamer must play in order to call him(or her)self a pc gamer? I am going to say The Orange Box and all the games in it. That's my opinoin. What's yours?

StarCraft and Half-Life. They're starting to get old though, and their influence is being watered down as the years go by, but they represent some watershed moments in PC gaming history. Its hard picking any newer games that are more important those two. Although Portal and the Half-Life 2 storyline may come close, so I'd agree somewhat with The Orange Box.

Team Fortress 2, nuff said. :x

Anyone that plays PC games on a regular basis is is PC gamer. Now there can be titles that every PC gamer should play, but it doesn't make them not a PC gamer if they haven't played them.

on my list of should play, there would be

STALKER

Half-Life 2

Battlefield 2

Command and Conquer The First Decade

Company of Heroes

Ultima Online

Counterstrike

Doom

2) Diablo series

3) Baldur's Gate series

4) Half-Life series

5) Deus-Ex

I think both The Witcher and the STALKER games belong up there as well.

I dont know what games should they play in order to be called PC Gamers...but i can tell you want games shouldnt play if they want to be called PC Gamers:

1.Halo series...miserable games.

2.Lost Planet series...no brain type of games.

3.Spider-man series...the type of games that only a child would prefer.

4.Rogue Warrior...all of the reasons from above combined.

5.Almost any game that is a 100% port from xbox360...On PC the games are rated from a scale from 1 to 10,on the xbox360 however giving the fact that is an obsolete game system that scale is only from 1 to 8...so yeah even the greatest game on the xbox360 would be mediocre game on pc...

I am surprised no one put in any of the Call of Duty Games or Medal of Honor, not that I am complaining, I am a Battlfield man myself.

Mass Effect 1&2, AOE3, SPORE, Assasins creed 1&2, BFBC2, Warcraft..(The whole lot), Fallout 3, Just Cause, and any of the TOTAL war games

Oh well, consider those that aren't on consoles and the far superior PC versions of the others (PS2's version of Deus Ex apparently was decent, but it really is a PC game). Original Far Cry WAS NOT on consoles.

My list stands as is in my eyes. These were PC games, FIRST AND FOREMOST, whether the consoles got the trickled-down inferior versions is unimportant.

But Far Cry: Instincts wasn't the same game as the PC Far Cry, was it?d-rtyboy

No, it wasn't, Far Cry (PC original) was not on consoles, so they can strike that idea out.

I removed Deus Ex from my list and added both WoW and Guild Wars.
