Hello,

I have the below computer, and I was thinking of selling my GTX275 (DirectX10 only) for a Gygabite 575 OC.

The main reason is that I want to play using DirectX11 to Shogun II, Dragon Age 2 and Crysis 2. But I have another question. My recent monitor is the sansung 2233rz that uses 120hz. I mainly use it for 2D and not 3D as I like to play online shooters also. But now that I am probably going to buy the GTX575 I was wondering if I should buy another monitor as my current monitor is only 1650x1050 and I would like to see the 1920x1200 resolution... could I use this monitor as a second monitor? could I still play online shooters in this monitor at 120hz and use a new one with 1920 resolution for the rest of the games? is it a big difference between 1650x1050 and 1920 x1200? ? I can play to all the current games max out at 1650 but I feel like upgrading, I dont know if I am doing the best thing.

Thoughts?

a gtx 575 doesnt exist..

yes you can do what you want with those two monitors in mind but it may look funny

the fact that your moving from 2d to 3d gaming changes nothing really.

I meant GTX570 is this one:

http://www.pccomponentes.com/gigabyte_geforce_gtx_570_oc_1gb_gddr5.html

Main questions in case my post is not clear are:

-Is there a big difference between 1650x1050 and 1920x1200?

-If I buy another monitor, will I be able to use my Sansung 2233rz (120hx 1650x1050) for anything? I mainly use my home computer for games and web

3-Does it mankes sense to upgrade my graphic card to a Direcx11 card?

yes and no ive worked n gamed on both given the choice .. id probably stay at 1680 x 1200 or around there

you can dual monitor if you want or run 2 screen 3d vision surround (game on two monitors at once) and games like supreme commander look uber cool with two monitor setups.

finally in this case yes mainly because itd be a huge preformance improvement... if in the event you cant afford the 570 i suggest looking into an amd alternative such as the hd 6950 2gb

http://www.pccomponentes.com/sapphire_radeon_hd_6950_2gb__gddr5.html

and then preforming what is known as a bios flash of the card to turn it into an hd 6970 for free!

http://www.pccomponentes.com/sapphire_radeon_hd_6970_2gb_gddr5.html

saivng you a significant amount of money and reducing preformance by 0

i dont hate them per say its jsut i feel they hjave nothing good to bring to the table.. with the prices of 6950's falling like apples off a tree and nvidia essentially abandoning the -200 dollar markets its hard to support them. im not out to make them seem like villains and i have recommended them before.. on tigerdirect atm you can bag a gts 250 from gainward for 50 bucks and a bfg tech gtx 260 for 100 bucks and should that 260 go down you can go to PNY rma the sucker and get 10-20% off a new gtx 400 or 500 series gpu

There's nothing too significant between 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 as far as gaming is concerned, other than losing 25-30% of raw performance in games, meaning you'll need 25-30% more CPU, GPU and RAM to run the same games under the same conditions. Everything considered, not what I call an improvement. I'd stay with your current monitor a while longer, at least until larger sizes with 120Hz become available - you certainly wouldn't want to lose that (I know that I wouldn't - I have a Viewsonic 2268wm, "the other" 120Hz model). . A word of warning - the 1920x1200 resolution used in 24" monitors is too high for the physical monitor size, meaning, everything will look too small. Texts will be harder to read unless you stick your nose to the screen or increase font sizes (which you can't do for every app or game), icons will look tiny, etc. If you "upgrade" to one from your current setup, trust me on this, you WILL feel the difference in a painful way. I bought a 24" monitor once, and I returned it a few days later because of this (and no, I'm not a blind mole). So my suggestion would be that you wait for 26" monitors with a 1920x1200 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate to become available, since that would be a far more adequate size+resolution+refresh combination to upgrade to from your current setup.

uh what? you are a blind mole if you can't see. Also by just clicking on the mouse wheel in W7, you can zoom in, making things larger. All web browsers these days also support the zoom feature if anything is too small. I use it all the time on my 24" 1920x1200 BenQ and I don't have a problem.
