I really can't believe it. Never knew that Mass Effect could be so epic. The big gunfights, the environment, the story, everything is amazing, and I only played the demo! Really can't wait to get the full game.

Not gonna lie i loved it too. ( the demo that is ). I wanted to download the ArmaII demo but i saw there was a mass effect 2 demo, so i was like what the heck ill download that too. After being dissapointed by ARmaII, i played Mass Effect 2 demo. And wow what an improvement. I havent even played the full game but the demo was alot of fun. I had fun using the different abilites and the gunplay was really good.
Is it easy to get side tracked in the real game? I pretty much like linear games.
ME2 is pretty linear (compared to Bethesda games). For good or bad. Great for me, 'cause I hate walking around huge environments. And it's nicer for the pacing, making the game seem like it has a purpose. And you'll see a variety of places so it never gets dull.
Cannot recommend this game enough. Pick it up ASAP!
I loved it! A great casual game with nonstop action and a captivating story with interesting characters.
Have you played a Bioware game :P They have like no open worlds and have been linear which is fine with me.ME2 is pretty linear (compared to Bethesda games). For good or bad. Check the Bioware topic lol. I love the way Bioware sets up its RPGs. I got frustrated with Oblivion and Fallout for their sometimes pointless wandering around. But there are some people who argue an RPG needs to be open and grandiose, and Mass Effect is just a corridor shooter.
That's understandable in some cases. I genuinely like the setting for Fallout, so if I do explore, it's because I find the 'verse fascinating. I travelled to Europe with a dude who loved Fallout 3 so much, it got me pumped to play the game. But I guess he definitely got more sucked in than me. I like exploring when there's a pay off. Rare weapons, boatloads of XP... there's nothing worse for me than to go out all the way, find nothing, and get lost on top of that.
EDIT - I actually love Fallout's VATS. Just pointing that out lol.
Plus I hate being alone. Oblivion is the worst when it comes to this. I'm doing a sidequest for the arena, I hate switching back and forth between my torch and weapons in the dark dungeon. I combed the place looking for my objective, but I guess I didn't read carefully enough. I returned empty handed and when I checked up a walkthrough, it seems I gotta go back into the dungeon to actually pick up the item. I just hope the enemies don't respawn in there. I am really not looking forward to playing the rest of the game, if a lot of it is spent dungeon-crawling : (
Part of my love for ME comes from character interaction. You don't get that a lot in Oblivion/Fallout :P. I'm a huge sucker for character-driven stories so in my eyes, Bioware nailed that with the series. And if my Battlestar Galactica/Firefly love wasn't enough, who's going to pass up the chance to fly around in a ship and save the day?
Heh funny story about being alone in Fallout. When I did get it to work, one instance in the game... freaked me out. There are a select few places in ME and Kotor where having a squad makes it less "freaky". I wish I had those guys in Fallout that time.
So I went to this abandoned power plant and heard some sort of crying/moaning. It was completely dark so that should have tipped me. But I had my sniper rifle and a couple of cheats on so I was feeling like a big man. I thought, all right, more innocent people to murder! I walk to the door and saw a few Feral Ghouls. I had never seen them before, so I was creeped out and fascinated at the same time. Using VATS, I blast off their heads and I decided to get a closer look. Two steps forward, I hear this screaming and the sound of footsteps. I run back into the other room just as six or seven feral ghouls burst through the door and charged at me. I nearly crapped my pants when I saw how fast they ran straight at me. And in the dark? OMG.
I love the Mass Effect series of games, it is one of my favourite franchises and pretty much the only game that makes me beg for more DLC. However the PC version is a bit of a let down to me. Obviously the PC version is better graphically I play the game at 2048 x 1152 at 60 fps and that is the problem. This game could be so much better graphics wise, why do we have the same clothing and environmental textures as the console ? The control scheme for the PC is also luck lustre (why the hell can I not use my mouse scroll wheel ?)
So yes it is a fantastic game but I am always left with the feeling it could be so much better than what it actually is and if they dare do that **** mining mini game in the next mass effect I may just say no to ME 3, I hate that mining mini game with a vengence.
i preferred the first over the second although i welcomed the improved gunplay and no texture popping in all the time. but the mining mini game was worse than the mako in my opinion. the second seemed to be less rpg more shooting a change which i felt was poorly implemented as you had almost no character customization it seemed to me. apart from thati do love the series and eagerly await the third installment.

Did you play ME 1? You may concider that if you haven't. They're both great and the story carriers over very well. Plus they play different so that you won't get bored going from one to the other.:)

I think the game looks beautiful on maxed out settings.

I also don't call ME an RPG or at least a typical one. It belongs in the Fable category of RPG's the "My babies first RPG" kinda of rpgs or a casuals rpg. It's absolutely an excellent game but the RPG elements have been 'streamlined', a.k.a. dumbed down, so it's much closer to a more intelligent Gears of War with a decent storyline (though ME1 had a far better storyline), not like GoW has one anyway :p.
I do wish I had waited for the Steam sale though. There isn't that much point any more in buying Single Player games as soon they come out.
I found it quite bland for a RPG tbh. Dialogue and characters were ok. THe environment and gameplay was a snooze fest.

I'm surprised and all the major praise for this game. All I can think of when playing this game is Gears of War TC with a some added extras. It is a good game but not outstanding like many are making it out to be. Too light on RPG, its pretty much an action/adventure game.
