Well i dont have that much money so yeah i got to make a choice. What do you think?

If you want more hours for your money, DA will win every time. DA can involve a fair amount of grinding, which can get boring.
But both do have substantial replay value with all their character classes, and ME2 is much more tightly focused and there's more action (guns! High explosives!).
They are both great. DA is more to the RPG type. Meanwhile, Mass Effect is more to FPS [+ small RPG element]. :D

Dragon Age MOTHERFRAKKIN Origins!!! I didn't like Mass Effect so much actually, the gameplay is kinda boring, but the story is amazing and so is the graphics and everything else, but I miss the RPG elements, I wouldn't even call it an RPG. Dragon Age on the other hand is an amazing RPG game! Buy it now!

For me vanilla dragon age was as good as ME2 if not better.Recently i started playing DA again with mods and now i like it even more than ME 1,2 combined!! Buy DA it will give you many many and many hours of gameplay than ME2.ZillaschoolWow Dragon Age Origins is acing the competition.
I've purchased both games, and both of them are great.
I'm glad that they are different in their implementation of a RPG: I wouldn't have bought them if they were too much alike.
For example, in Mass Effect your character (Shepard) has full voiceovers, whereas it is sadly lacking throughout DA:O (except for one-liners like "As you say").
DAO all the way, ME2 is watered down.
DAO is a Bioware game, ME2 is more like Gears of War, with a great story/presentation.
Dragon Age is easily 70 hours worth of gameplay on the first playthrough. It has so much content that its worth another playthrough:)
Mass effect 2 is more cinematic and high quality, but has a few game play flaws(like the mining.)
Was there a multiplayer component to DAO? If there is then hands down to Dragon Age Origins.[QUOTE="haberman13"]

No multiplayer in either.
If you like action games more than RPG then ME2 is the winner.
Their is much more dialogue in Dragon Age compared to Mass Effect. Not to mention, in Dragon Age you can create multiple characters for a good role-playing experience. In Mass Effect 2, you only role play as male or female shepard. Mass Effect does not compare honestly.I've purchased both games, and both of them are great.

Dragon Age is extremely boring, it has a great story but the fighting is horrible. It's nearly turned based fighting. If you're looking for more fun gameplay I would recommend Mass Effect 2, it also has amazing graphics.
Simple ehh? Boy you should read what the other guys wrote before you.[QUOTE="MaxGamer"]
Get Dragon Age if you want a medieval RPG or Mass Effect 2 for a space FPS with RPG elements. It's that simple.
Gammet25
The opinions of others should factor very little into the your ultimate decision. Both are great games, and cannot be compared directly due to their polar differences. The game you purchase should be based on your own preferences to maximize the enjoyment you get out of it.
No one can tell the you which game you will enjoy more. I think it's safe to say that you'd be making a good choice either way.

There was originally, but they cut it out. Mass Effect 2 doesn't have multiplayer either.

I wouldn't call that a good thing, since the vast majority of Dragon Age's dialogue is dead boring.
Then again, I guess that applies to just about everything in Dragon Age - sure, it was a polished big-budget RPG experience, but the story is disappointingly straightforward, only a few of the characters are interesting, the dungeons are mostly awful (you spend a ludicrous amount of time hacking your way through corridor after corridor of basic enemies, with very few puzzles or exploration to break up the monotony), the combat isn't particularly compelling when compared to older party-based RPGs like BG2 or IWD, the pacing and difficulty curves were completely messed up, and the environments and setting are as bland as they are cliche'd.
Mass Effect 2 is a more shallow RPG (not that I'd say that DAO was particularly deep either - Bioware tends to focus more on style than substance), it wasn't as long, and the story kinda failed compared to the first game, but it made up for it by actually being highly entertaining. I wouldn't call it a great RPG and I wouldn't normally pick a shooter over a party-based RPG, but...Mass Effect 2 gets my vote.

The opinions of others gives you a better idea of what to expect when you buy a product.Dragon age, more content, better story, better rpg gameplay. Mass effect 2 has better graphics and optimazation though.dakan45Both are amazing games from the same company. Though Dragon Age is basically the same story of every other bIoware game it is alot more packed with stuff and harder. If you like shooters I suggest Mass Effect 2. I have played it through so many times almost 8 times I think with all my playthroughs lasting 60+ hours so yea thats alot of time...
Completely agree with you. This is how I felt about ME 2, though I can't deny it that I loved the game. It was just a little let down in terms of RPG, the other elements in the game are just brilliant. I'd say Dragon Age.DAO all the way, ME2 is watered down.

Mass Effect 2 by a mile. DAO is ok but I found it really boring... I just restarted as a spellcaster to see if the game is more tolerable when I can use magic as opposed to just being a warrior.Well i dont have that much money so yeah i got to make a choice. What do you think?

I just giving my opinion. Go and buy the Dragon Age Origins first. And then play it and at the same time try to save same money for the Mass Effect 2.
By the time you finish the Dragon Age [that include main storyline + side quest + DLC + time to explore the massive map + or just boring] which eventually will take you plus minus 70 hour, you might already have enough saving to buy the Mass Effect 2.
And trust me when i said they are all worth of your single penny to buy!! Eventually making into your priceless collection.
Hope that help, because i did that to myself!! And i'm happy :)
well, it depends...on whatever simple or complicated especially since the one who asks the question says nothing about his own gaming preference...
anyway, DA:O is a vast water-down of Bioware's very own BG2; ME 2 is overall an improvement from the original.
about what Bioware's really good at, the NPCs, ME2 beats DA:O hands down.
add: (slight spoiler)
btw, ME2 isn't much worse than DA:O in the role-paying department, or in other words, neither of them is really anything great. DA:O has more races and cIasses and orign stories for sure, but the alignment system is broken for both: Grey Warden X is virtually the same as Y Shepard.
in the choice-consequence department, ME2 actually is better as the NPC loyalty system is tightly bounded into the main narrative (or the lack of it...).
I would have to say Dragon age.
It has more hours of gameplay and a better story. While, the graphics aren't as good as Mass Effect, they don't burn your eyes out like some older games. I got Dragon age and I have not regretted the purchase.
And if you don't mind the way the combat is (pausing quite regularly to give out commands to your party and watch them perform the action) then I would say, get it!

Bioware needs to hire some scriptwritters to write good stories and stop recycling the story of their previous game. I just dont care about bioware games anymore since they offer nothing new in story elements anymore. On the other hand while i liked the plot twist in kotor, kotor 2 made by osbidian was mostly a joke in story since in the end you discovered a rushed ending filled with all those questions you had before and not even one was answered. Just like they say "ok boys, we are out of time, lets wrap this one up and throw the ending credits"
ME2 is better than ME1, but it still not something i spent much time on. Just ran through the main plot, was done in a day or two.
Dragon Age i played for a week or more and highly recommend it. Deeper characters and far more content. Fundamentally, fantasy rpgs are
what Bioware is best at, not star trek. The world of ME just does not feel alive to me.
