No offence but have you ever played mass effect 2 ?No. In RPGs plot points are determinted by player choices, not gameplay

... But he is right in this regard.. Its based on choices and loyalty of your team.. And difficulty has nothing to do with it in this regard.

Ohh sorry for some reason it sounded like you have never played it my mistake.Thats weird some people on the internet said that you could.No. Like everyone else has/will tell you, it's all based on player choice.

lol, it's the internet, what did you expect? Surviving the final is mission is no different on insanity or casual
Check the official forums for a full guide if you want, but it's pretty easy if you do all the logical choices

Well it wouldn't be the first time "some people on the internet" were wrong. I did a quick casual playthrough purposely trying to lose as many crew members as possible (I wanted video footage of the deaths) and it is possible to lose pretty much all of your crew members on casual setting. As others have said who lives and dies during the suicide mission is based on your choices during the game and during the suicide mission. If you screw up the decisions then you better pop to your "favourite store on the Citidel" for bodybags.

Well I know people on the internet are wrong alot but so many said it I thought I would ask. But thanks for explaining and lets hope I dont make dumb choices lololJust do all the loyalty quests and upgrade your ship to the max.shakmaster13
That's not all. You need to choose the right choices in the suicide mission
You and your team survive the suicide mission by keeping the game on casual difficulty.
Darksonic666
Not true, I made everyone, including myself die while playing on casual (Was a playthrough I did for fun) There's a video with a similar ending, not mine.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRHhdc53Od8
You also need to do the missions in the "correct" order. If you wait to fly and save your Crew by doing other missions then they will start to die.
I haven't tried it personally on casual but it seems casual settings can help if you have disloyal members. Other than that its the same. full guide: http://www.giantbomb.com/mass-effect-2/61-21590/how-to-survive-the-suicide-mission-no-plot-spoilers/35-385092/ "Dealing with non-loyal team members (the lazy way) - You can always turn down the difficulty to Casual and not use the disloyal member at all. " "Loyalty: Get max loyalty with everyone you can & unlock their special powers in order to guarantee their survival. You'll be using a majority of your team in someway or another. It's imperative that you do this because normal/non-loyal team members are bad choices for any kind of mission (especially escort or your own team). However this is not the be-all end-all. *******You can still avoid their deaths on the Casual difficulty settings by not using them at all, but as a result it significantly cuts down the wiggle room for your team picks.****** "t1rynThats what I heard on the internet.
For my first play through I played it on casual, which I agree was pretty easy. But it just got on my nerves on my insanity playthrough when my AI squad mates kept on dying every 2 seconds.i hate playing on anything less than insanity or one below. Casual and normal are just way too simple to win

Not if you do all the loyalty quests and upgrades. You might lose some of your crew but no meaningful characters.[QUOTE="wis3boi"]

Indeed, they should have put a difficulty level above Insanity, was still easy.
the normal is easy.. i'll admit that but the insanity for me isn't.. i already beat the game with insanity for my 2nd play (1st play i stop halfway b'cause normal difficulty is boring..) -with infiltrator class but, the truth is, insanity in me2 isn't fun i die a lot... though it's become easier later..(still hard...) the difference between normal and insanity is ridiculous...[QUOTE="ventnor"][QUOTE="wis3boi"]

That is why there is the Hardened difficulty between Normal and Insanity to bridge the gap.Difficult has zero effect on outcome of the suicide mission, it has everything to do with loyalty and who you chose to do certain tasks, as well as group composition. Whoever is telling you otherwise is clueless.
If you are really interested HERE is the current theory-crafting on how to get certain outcomes in the suicide mission.
And yes, I have played ME2 on 4 seperate chracters so don't make any other assumptions.
I'm interested in seeing how importing a saved game in which everyone dies including Shepard would work in Mass Effect 3.
PTMags
Then be interested no more because Bioware are taking the easy way out ;) . If your Shepard dies at the end of Mass Effect 2 then that as they say is that. You will not be able to import a save game where good ole Shepard is 6ft under pushing up the Protheans. This is what Casey Hudson had to say:-
if your Shepard dies in the end of Mass Effect 2, that's the end of him / her. In that case, you can play Mass Effect 3 as "a" Shepard – just not "your" Shepard. As in real life, not being able to keep living is really the main down-side of death. So if you care about playing the next game with your character, make sure you survive this one.Casey Hudsonhttp://blogs.ign.com/BW_MassEffect/2009/06/17/123208/

Not if you do all the loyalty quests and upgrades. You might lose some of your crew but no meaningful characters.Wrong.
Choosing a wrong tech character or leader in the first choice will get one party member killed.
Choosing a wrong biotic character also gets another party member killed.
Choosing the wrong leader for the destraction team will get the leader party member killed.
If you don't leave the best defeneders guarding the door usually gets at least one party member killed "holding the line".
That's at least 4 dead party members if you choose the wrong choices in the suicide mission and if you do all loyalty quests and upgrades.

I was under the impression that no matter who I pick will live if I have done all the loyalty missions and ship upgrades, and people will only die on the suicide mission if they're not loyal enough or if they die when your ship is attacked. I know that some crew may die if you do missions and stuff before doing the suicide mission after they are taken but other than that idk :?I was under the impression that no matter who I pick will live if I have done all the loyalty missions and ship upgrades, and people will only die on the suicide mission if they're not loyal enough or if they die when your ship is attacked.
shakmaster13
it's not the case...if you choose the wrong NPCs to lead the second squad (twice), and if you don't rush through the mission, NPCs will die.

I mean I know the part with the heatvalves but other than that every time I've done it all my guys lived. When they are being overwhelmed one of them gets shot but then gets back up.[QUOTE="teardropmina"][QUOTE="shakmaster13"]

I must say. That was one of my favorite quick looks ever.

Go discuss this in the ME forums I think you just spoiled something for me. I just started playing ME2.PetJel
Hm you have to question the wisdom of coming into a topic "discussing the ending of Mass Effect 2" if you have just started the game. If you had read the TC's opening post you would have clearly seen this topic is about the END of the game. Now I don't know about you but if I went into a topic about the ending of a game I had just started then I would leave it quick smart.
Yes it is only right that those that have finished the game should be "careful" regarding spoilers (even if the game is nearly a year old). However the onus has to be on the person wanting to avoid the spoiler as well. If you don't want the game spoiled then it is probably best you stay out of topics relating to Mass Effect 2 until you have finished the game. As it stands this topic has been fairly spoiler free story wise from what I can tell. All that has been discussed is the mechanics of passing the final mission.

The first post instantly states that your entire team dies. There is no plot or spoiler indication in the thread title and I obviously didn't read furhter than the original post. My point is valid.I almost dont belive that you didnt know the answer to this question already. You can all survive on any difficulty aslong as every one is loyal, your ship is upgraded and you pick the right people for the job on the suicide mission. You and your team survive the suicide mission by keeping the game on casual difficulty.

That is odd because my entire team survived the final mission . It has always been known that in the final mission you COULD lose pretty much everyone. That isn't a spoiler that is just common sense i.e. do badly in a mission and bad things happen. Not to mention that pretty much early on in the game it is hinted heavily that Shepard is taking on a mission that has suicidal odds and he/she may not return.
I think you are protesting at something that is insignificant, the fact that your team can die if you make bad choices and decisions in the game is not a "spoiler" it is "common sense". Either way it was pretty poor judgement on your part to come into a Mass Effect 2 topic if you have such an aversion to the story being spoiled for you. I would have thought it would be pretty obvious that there would be spoilers in a topic about a game that has been out for nearly a year now.
