Hi People!

I was just wondering what is the better setting to use in mass effect.

I no DX10 is more 3d better lighting etc, but my pc can't take it with AA & AF.If i turn AA & AF Off i can run on the highest settings.

If i use DX9 i can max out everything including AA & AF.

So whats better DX10maxed outwith no AA & AF or DX9 maxed out with full AA & AF

Will there be much difference?

Thanks

MyGaming Rig: ASUS P5Q PRO P45/Q6600@3.5Ghz/ATI Radeon 4890 1GB/6GB DDR2 1066Mhz/586GB Hard Drive

It doesn't have DX 10 support.

Maxing it out with full AA and AF is the best way to play it, there is no such thing as DX 9 with full AA and AF or DX 10 with no AA and AF if you can max it out and use AA you use it, anyway UE 3 doesn't do great in that department (AA) but it's decent.

P.S I don't know what DX 10 games you played but your card can/should definitely perform great in DX 10 games with AA and AF on, I have an 8800GT and I have no problems in maxing out any DX 10 games and still use decent amounts of AA and AF at 1440x900 (rarely) or 1680x1050, except Crysis of course.

Not all games have DX 10, and not all Unreal Engine 3 games have it, just Bioshock from the list of UE 3 games.

Mass Effect is an xbox port, it doesn't have DX10 support.

FYI DX10 is primarily a performance improvement and not a huge graphical leap. In most cases you should see better performance with dx10. Also with todays higher resolutions, AA is not necessarily a requirement. Its a huge amount of processing for a very small improvement. AF is very dependent and the game so you may or may not need that too

I get around 60 frames (because of the frame lock), maxed out, and your graphics card is a lot better, ATI cards have some problems with UE 3 but you'll max it out without any problems. Enjoy CoH ;) great game and it's also one of the few DX 10 games.
