I can only afford one...both are similar games, I need to decide between them.

IMO, Fallout 3, Mass Effect is not that great, and is Biowares worse, along with Jade Empire, vastly overrated. You will get more hours out of Fo3. FYI, they are not similar at all, do you know what each game is like? FO3 and ME are very different types of games.

They're not that similar. I haven't played Fallout 3 yet (it's coming out thursday here), but I can say that Mass Effect is amazing. I think that I'll like Fallout 3 more though, but I can't really give you an honest answer on how it really is. However, if you liked oblivion you'd probably like Fallout 3.

They aren't the same game, but they are both FPS-RPGs. I'd say get FO3 first. By the time you are done with it, you should be able to pick up ME at a good budget price. I don't think you can go wrong with either one, but it also sounds like FO3 is a much bigger game.

I think it is a matter of personal opinion, I prefer Fallout 3, it has alot of meat on its bones, and I like the dystopian setting of it.

Mass Effect seemed too "clean" for me, better animated characters, and a decent story. Sadly in Mass Effect it quickly becomes a "seen that done that" type of game, where you feel that very little is offered to you in terms of new things to do.

Im not far enough into Fallout 3 to say if it falls into the same trap, if it is alot like Oblivion it will, but im optimistic, since the start is pretty good.

I might sound negative, but I am not, both games are quite good and offer a good time through them.

Me is not a FPS/RPG, it is all third person, IMo, FO3 is way better, Mass effect tries to give the illusion of choice, the basically different dialog just gets the same result, just a different reaction, at its core it is very shallow. Big dissappointment IMO, especially from bioware. Side quests are terrible and boring as well.

I think both are great games (though I've only played about 2 hours of F3). Overall I think If you've played KotOR 1 and 2, I'd defenatly go with F3 since Mass Effect, while a good game, does tend to feel a little like something you've done before after playing the KotOR games

Fallout 3 isn't out where I am, but I would probably still say it's the better choice. Mass Effect, though fun, is actually a very shallow rpg at heart.

Considering the two games I would go for Fallout.
