Games listed on the topic are one of the best RPG/Action/Shooter game. Both looks good, both looks great but I can only choose one. Anyone play one of the games can give me some opinion on which one to choose. mhkan1992
I have beaten both and loved both but if I had to choose it would be mass effect. Either way you will be playing a great game.
Mass Effect is shorter and more cinematic, it's side quest are in general not that interesting.
Fallout 3 is long and hardly cinematic, it's main story is boring but side quests are fun.
nutcrackr
pretty much yes. for the price you can pick it up for now, mass effect is probably best bought simply to play through the main quest. its got a great story, some great battles and some epic moments. the sidequests however are repetitive, generally boring and nearly all look the same. when i pay full price for a game i want to get my moneys worth by playing through every sidequest but ive seen ME on sale in england for £10 so for that price id just play through the main quest.
fallout 3 will last you longer and has better sidequests, but dont expect loads of them like in oblivion. in its own way it can be as much fun to play as mass effect, maybe even more in places, but its main story is not as strong and whilst there are some great and memorable moments its not quite as epic. and its more expensive.
still, you cant go wrong with either so flip a coin.:)
We've had this exact same topic a week ago...no matter! My vote goes to Fallout 3 for hilarious combat (no other game made me laugh at the screen at a flying head), amazing atmosphere and mods.
Mass Effect is very shallow with a world that's hard to get into - looooow immersion with repetitiveness and almost no NPC interaction - the galaxy is fairly empty. What is gunning for it however is excellently made cutscenes (on par with a movie - Star Wars mainly) and an interesting if somewhat predictable story - Read the Mass Effect book, it offers the story before the game, about Anderson specifically.
Fallout 3, from me.
[QUOTE="JangoWuzHere"][QUOTE="Hellboard"]does mass effect has a world map? fallout 3..Hellboardno it has a galaxy map:) which has eg 10 planets but 7 or 8 of them can be explored and the planets are smaller than a town...no a village:)
That is by far the stupidest, most illogical reason for disliking a game i have ever seen. Mass Effect is set up in a way so that you don't need a world map. The galaxy map lets you choose a planet within a solar system within a galexy, and then gives you the use of an 3d map for that area, which is just as if not more affective than having a world map. saying that mass effect is bad because it has no world map is like saying Call of Duty 4 is bad because the main character is not chinese. it makes no sense at all.
Mass Effect definitely. It is more cinematic and has a more interesting and entertaining main campaign. The combat is also more enjoyable because it is not as repetitive and there are many options you can take like special powers and the cover system. Fallout 3 is a good game, but it has quite a weak campaign and story, with a lot of walking around. The whole vats thing is a bit of a gimmick. biggest_loser
This. And I have to add that F3 has one of the most stupid and illogical settings ever...
...which kinda makes sense though, if we consider that it follows Fallout 1's premise that it's just a simulation that the Vault citizens use to train themselves for surviving after they leave the shelter.
But it's still stupid.
Get both if you have $150 on ya hehehe their both great rpgs =DHekynn

Hmm, you know, I'll have to agree with this overall as well.
I'm currently playing ME, I freakin' love it's atmosphere, right down to the background music. It's highly cinematic, but not overdone to a point that it takes you away from the gameplay, the combat for instance does leave you in highly in control with numerous options.
Fallout 3 was a good game as mentioned, at the very least I certainly found fun with it. Initially, I was concerned V.A.T.S. would become mundane quickly, but to be honest I never really grew weary of it. Most of my combat was with a real-time/V.A.T.S. combo approach which was alot of fun, however, the gimmicky aspect of V.A.T.S. was that it seemed like I was trying for headshots anyway the majority of the time.
Consider what characteristics you (OP) like best in games to decide between the two, for example, "a lot of walking around" in Fallout 3 = much more nook & cranny exploration than in ME, some people will find this quite appealing ;)

sorry but your statement is the most ridiculous and idiotic i ever read in my life not mine:) mass effect tries to simulate all these by saying.. we got plenty of planets but guess what, mostly they are linear and fake, but fallout 3 has a huge size world that allows you to travel and explore or even kill monsters as long as you wont to level up, however you cant spend free play in mass effect to just kill enemies to level up and upgrade different skills, its too much cinematic and based in the story, unlikely fallout is based more on side quests and freeplay and that counts for me more, eg especially in the beginning it was about: talk, choose dialogue options, and eventually get a combat situation, and then bored again till you get another one, but fallout 3 is more free to the way you want to play:) thats why it beats the witcher and mass effect.[QUOTE="with_teeth26"][QUOTE="Hellboard"] which has eg 10 planets but 7 or 8 of them can be explored and the planets are smaller than a town...no a village:)Hellboard

Mass Effect had an amazing story, and the different planets allowed for a lot of variation in gameplay, where as in Fallout 3 no amount of freedom saves the landscape from being drab and repetative. the core combat in Fallout 3 is rather bland and clunky, and i agree that the world map is neat, but in mass effect the use of a world map doesn't make any sense.
also, another tip about your writing, slow down, and think it through, it sounds like you are on ecstasy and caffeine 24/7, your writing seems very rushed. people will respect what you are saying a lot more if you slow down and try to correct obvious errors.

then lets stop offending its other shall we? Now let me explain, i might like mass effect a lot but mass effect is just like rise of the argonauts, dialogues, dialogues, too much story driven and less freedom and more replay value.
in a world that pc gamers hate mgs4, because it has too much story (i dont) id say nah to the story and enjoy the wide freedom fallout 3 offers, for me its a perfect rpg because it allows me to spend more time around and do stuff, or simply kill enemies in the worldmap, and have some fun, just like gta....
But mass effect is blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, Just shut up shut up shephard i don wanna do another conversation i wanna get exp...lol:P
did i explain myself? After i get the vault it has more freedom, plus more items, mass effect is like another dumbed down rpg game that doest matter much how much exp you have, because you cant do anything about it, eg get level up as much as you want, and all items are about the same just like fable 2 had 30 variations of the longsword, and mass effect has 30 variations of each weapon, but basicly its the same weapon with different stats:)
ok i get what your saying, you don't lilke mass effect out of persona opinion. i can respect that. i found the dialogue really cool, but i guess that is not for everyone. with_teeth26nooooo I like mass effect alot, i mean its a masterpiece, but i like fallout 3 more for more freedom overall in the game.
trust me dude you wonna get mass effect instead of fallout 3. fallout just gets so damn repetitive after about 10 hours of gameplay. even with all the best mods its boring to play. mass effect is no where near as repetitive. supertrooper23true everything is so linear in mass effect, a total story and boring dialogue driven game with lower replay value than fallout 3 and no map exploration and leveling up  As a matter of fact i was death bored in mass effect till i complete the citadel, and stopped playing the game, so tiny small and empty till that point, :( but the planets got interesting, till i discover most of them are un-explorable :( or exactly the same thing as the previous ones i explored :(:( so its repetitive alright get fallout 3:)
Fallout 3 by a very very very very large margin. Not even really a contest.
ME was good enough to play on its own but in a situation where you have to choose its a no brainer in FO3's favor.
