It is almost a certainty. There was a PC Gamer UK article about 8 months ago that suggested they are already working on it despite Bioware continueing to deny it. Personally since MS Game Studio is at the head of this my money is on them towing the "XBox 360 exclusive" line until Febuary just to push 360 sales through the holidays then announce the PC port.SerOlmy
im more thinking that theyll announce it at e3 next year (thats may isnt it?) and be ready for a launch this time next year.
To give you an idea of their last port...
Jade Empire came out on the XBOX early April 2005. In early May 2006 they announced it would come to the PC. It was released for the PC late February 2007.
So if things follow a similar schedule with Mass Effect, expect them to announce it for PC next fall, then release it in late summer 2009.
edited for spacing
how long did it take bioware to port KOTOR from the xbox to the pc? that may give an idea of when they may release.maybealittlelongersincethisgamesurelyhasmorestufftoport. just a rough guess though.marklar123
according to gamespot it was 4 months (i thought both were released at the same time but anywho). i would expect a bigger gap though this time because MS will want to milk it on 360 as much as possible before putting it on another platform.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a PC port of Mass Effect. I fear it will follow the same path as Halo 2 and it's PC port, because Microsoft already considers it to be a very hot franchise and a system seller.
I don't know what kind of deal Bioware and Microsoft have, but I'm thinking Bioware would want to make a PC version for sure and release it as soon as possible, but since they aren't going to release a PC version at the same time, it makes somewhat sense to assume that Microsoft made that happen.
But will Microsoft make it a Vista only game?THGarrett
probably, since Halo 2 was such a gigantic success for the PC and all...
/sarcasm
Microsoft doesn't have any say in this matter, it never did. Mass Effect is a fully owned BioWare IP - or to be precise, now it's owned by EA. I'm sure the PC version will be out sometime next year.
After the PC Gamer article about it coming to the PC was cut, Bioware said that it wouldn't come to the PC until the trilogy was complete on the Xbox 360. I have a feeling it will come sooner then that though.smokeydabear076
i'm sorry, i just can't believe this. if they did this, the game wouldn't come out until like 2012. and by then, the graphics will look outdated and we'll be playing games with our minds and driving flying cars.

I don't believe it either, but it is what they said.Well, if they do bring it to PC hopefully they fix all the glitches and bugs I've been reading about.

Jade Empire took a long time, but the thing people don't understand is that JE took so long because MS literally sat on it....so BioWare had to go out find another publisher to secure a publishing deal with (which in itself takes time)....notice how JE for PC was published by 2K, not MS.
Remember....all of BioWare's IP's are wholly owned by BioWare (now EA).
Now that BioWare is under EA, finding a publisher to put their games on other platforms is no longer an issue.....in fact, I'm willing to bet EA is currently considering ME for other platforms (definitely PC, possibly PS3) in since on other platforms EA gets a larger piece of the profit pie with MS cut out.

I don't believe it either, but it is what they said.According to their official site they still maintain that they have no plans whatsoever to bring it to the PC, as it was developed as a 360 exclusive. They have an agreement with Microsoft that they have to honor.Agreements on exclusivity usually are time limited though. They've just got to wait it out.

Really? I didn't know the details.how long did it take bioware to port KOTOR from the xbox to the pc? that may give an idea of when they may release.maybealittlelongersincethisgamesurelyhasmorestufftoport. just a rough guess though.marklar123
KOTOR was not ported. It was a delayed release because of some technical problems, and was originally to be released at the same time.
Yeah, I poked around Bioware forums, and several people asked questions about the PC port in several threads, all of which got locked by a mod with the same line, "Bioware has no plans at this time to migrate Mass Effect to the PC." What I think that means is: Long Freaking Wait. I think it'll come, but they can't say because MS has an exclusive and can probably hold onto it for as long as they like. As long as this thing keeps selling systems, MS will hold onto the exclusive. I would have guessed that we would get the PC port next year, but it's looking like I was being optimistic again. (which is weird considering what an insufferable cynic I am)Srinivassa
And then we have the EA acquisition and the coming economic depression to deal with, so who knows what will happen.

If that's true I wonder if they are working on a port and just can't say anything about it and will release itafter the time is over. Or if they are forbidden to even work on a port until the time is over.

I've heard that a lot in this industry concerning timed exclusives. I don't really buy the tag line, "we have no plans to port" anymore because half the time it's just PR BS.
We need to make petitions and keep asking at the BioWare forum !
The GameSpot guy that reviewed Mass Effect obviously know nothing about RPGs. Mass Effect deserves a 9.5 AT LEAST ( it just suffers from some bugs that can be fixed by a patch ). Mass Effect should be GOTY, not that crappy FPS Halo 3. Just look at all the other great reviews it got:

Recession. A depression is unlikely to happen in our lifetime. Besides, that has nothing to do with anything in this case.
