Hello, I am having a blast playing Mass Effect, best game this year for me... so far I am playing with a vanguard as I wanted to use the biotics powers....but I just realized I wont be able to use the sniper rifle, which makes me sad as I LOVE to use the sniper rifle in games... what should I do? Should I start again using a soldier class or infiltrator? is the sniper rifle fun or u can only use it in very limited occasions? Is the vanguard a good choice if I AM ONLY going to finishh the game once (too many games in my hard drive) ? If anyone have finish the game and can answer I would really appreciatte. Thanks

i played the soldier, and i loved it. my suggestion is to make sure that you really enjoy using your main character's gun, because you can always use your teammates' biotic and engineer powers, but you can't aim for them. the best way to go, imo, is to make your main character a soldier (who can use the sniper rifle) and take an engineer and a biotic specialist with you and semi-micromanage them (including their stats).

I'm having fun playing as soldier, I just prefer the soldier/assault class in all games though, I do enjoy spec ops stuff though so I will probably give the Infiltrator a go once I finish the game once.

the soldier by himself is not as deep as other classes. but since you can use your teammates' powers, it really doesn't matter what your main character is besides which gun you use. but yeah, if you really wanted to, you could just let the a.i. take care of your teammates and control only your character, which would make playing as the soldier less deep than other characters. but why would you not control your teammates and be more strategic when fighting enemies? simply more fun that way.
