I've gone back to play ME1, making sure to pick all the choices I'd like to carry over, given they effect the next game. I also wanted to keep ALL my options open so I decided to exploit the Eletania (space monkey) cheat for max Paragon points and the Noveria cheat for max Renegade.

I'm almost finished ME1 now but I'm having doubts about whether ME2 will cope with both bars being full on import, since it is not meat to be possible to fill both bars from a single playthrough of ME1. Will the game crash, freak out or will it simply decide for me 'which' bar to read as filled & ignore the other?

No I think you must have misunderstood something, when you import a character from ME you only regain some of your paragon and renegade points, regardless of ending. I know because I also exploited it, though I never maxed the renegade, (around just half iirc).

I don't think the cheat will carry on through ME2. It can only be 1 psychological profile or the other.

You might not carry the whole bar across but I have read the various 'official' and 'unofficial' lists of decisive changes/factors in the game. Those lists say that ME2 gameplay is impacted by whether or not you have a morality bar at 75% or more (making you start the game as Paragon or Renegade). What I'm asking is whether you start the game with BOTH sides of the same acheivement met, you will get BOTH alterations to the game. In ME1 there are 2 quests that can only be unlocked if you have 75% of either morality. The game gave me both those quests. Will ME2 be able to cope with the imported data from both?

Also, I have seen on YouTube that a mostly Renegade Shepard gets red eyes/irises unless you use a mod to get rid of them. I got my Shepard to 75% Renegade, but never got red eyes, even though I didn't use the mod to get rid of my scars because I liked them. The people who did have red eyes were prolific gamers who probably all imported games.

The game will not run and you will be presented with an alternative title for your enjoyment, introduced with the music from "Paint your Wagon" too!

your paragon and renegade scores dont really matter in the carryover; iirc you start with a slight boost, but the only significant thing that carries over are the choices you made. Those will be referenced in ME2.

Yeah well you're all freaking wrong because I can answer my own question now and I'm not freaking happy!

On starting ME2 I had NO game to import. I had to make a copy of my ME1 save file and drop it in a file in ME2 saves... luckily I guessed the folder should be called ME1 or I'd be stuffed but that's an issue for another day. Anyway... on import it said a bunch of things in my psyche profile like Wrex lived on Virmire, Ashley died etc. IT ALSO FREAKING WELL SAID I HAVE A GODDAMN PARAGON PSYCHE PROFILE!!!!! I DON"T WANT TO BE EFFING PARA EFFING GON!!!!

I know this game has cheats but I don't believe it has a console for easy use of those. Could someone please tell me if there is a way to edit some file or other to make me Renegade/

Also can I 'earn' red eyes in the game or do I need to start off as Renegade to have those?

And why are my scars so wimpy? I've seen a male Renegade Shepard with awesome effed up facial scars and red eyes. I'm female shep, apparently paragon with blue eyes and barely seeable scars. Pfft.
