How long & whats the difficulty for this game? I dont want to dive my head too deep and realizing is going to be a game that drags on.

Is it okay to use ds3 controller for the sake that I could sit back to a tv instead?

Yes to make it less like all those mp3 threads... also what other trending titles is there for the summer to play.

About 10 hours long, can be difficult at times. Not too long, not to short, either. Do not use a controller, unless you use hard/soft lock. Aiming on controller is a pain.

I think you would be doing Max Payne 3 a disservice if you play it with a controller. It's a great PC multi-plat. Well-optimized - cranked up all the settings @ 1920x1200, 60fps without a hitch. It's the 10-hour mark kinda game. Other than the technical "stuff," expect a great game. Starts off a bit weak, but it picks up around chapter 5, imho. Have fun. Cheers!

I wouldn't use a controller if I were you. I know a lot of us PC guys say that, but I think this is one of the few games that just has a real significant advantage in it. There's no added controller features (like GTA IV on PC had), no areas where a controller is better (like in so many vehicle and flight sections in some games), and the way the aiming works just makes it best to be pin point accuracy.

I mean, the Gamespot review mentioned that the shoot dodge is somewhat useless, right? Well on PC a single shoot dodge can be enough for you to clear a whole room with headshots, not saying its impossible on consoles, I'm just saying its much harder and almost feels like the game was made for the pin point accuracy of a mouse when headshots are so rewarding and slow mo dives give such precious little time to pull them off.

Anyways, its a fantastic game. The cutscenes are a bit frequent (especially early on when trying to catch the players up on the story), but the gameplay is amazing, the length is maybe average, slightly above average for a third person shooter, and there's a lot of replay value in collectibles, score attacks and multiplayer.

Well since the Steam Sale is literally right around the corner, I'd wait for then. If they don't do a special deal for it, then they always offer at least 10% off or so on every game if I remember right, which is better then nothing.

Depending on how you play between 10-18hours its not that long. Also it depends on what level you play on because i have yet to see anyone without cheats not die at least once through the game. And i wouldn't ´t use a controller even your really skilled with a controller you will find it slow compared to a mouse espicialy in bullet time. when there is multiple enemies at various locations. Other titles this summer is not that many Ghost Recon is coming out soon Then its pretty much standstill until Oct, when Dishonored comes out if it doesnt get delayed.

I agree with pretty much everything everyone else said. You should use a mouse and keyboard unless you really just have to use a controller. The story is only about 10 hours long but it is a great game. Multiplayer is fun also, if you are interested at all.

Under 10 hours Game is medium difficulty with mouse and keyboard. remember shootdodge is your friend for unlimited slow motion headshots. Just make sure you have enough ammo for the next section. Heavy guys (helmet with machine gun) jump the difficulty quite high and there are spots where it jumps. expect many cut scenes, so gameplay is more like 5hours

airshocker

Pretty much this. You're lucky if the game actually lets you aim, let alone move. (lol turret segments!)

The area where the game does really well is Max paynes character and the inner monologue! The combat and levels are in varied locations but it is sooooo repetetive. You will do the same thing over and over again all through the game. And some of the level design is just poor! It is pretty easy but there are a frustratingly high number of enemies to kill the same damn way.. have I said "same" enough?

Its great but I wouldnt say its a $60 game. Too many missteps like the fact you cant move 100 yards without a cutscene, 90% of them are useless and could have easily been in game.

Is the game really that bad on the gamepad, I mean I am a pc first person, but I just like to wind down sometime and sitback with a controller.

Though the game sounds great already thanks.

It works better then the older titles I guess. I mean, the older games did a good job, but the pinpoint accuracy and lethality meant they had to scale back the damage and add bullet time I think, and they did the same thing here. As a bonus though, the aim assist is spot on, allowing for either soft or hard lock, or even total free aim if you are some sort of gamepad prodigy. You won't be pulling off room clearing headshots in one shoot dodge like you can as easily on PC, but it does a good job, and if you are really bad at gamepad aiming the cover system and shoulder aim do wonders for fine tuning your aim, regardless of where you play it.

But of course, despite the little changes it made to better accomodate gamepads with varying aim assists and shoulder aim, as I said the insanely pinpoint accuracy of the weapons, combined with the deadly AI and incredibly easy to lose health makes it work best when you have full control.

haven't touched a gamepad for ages (since the ps2 days), but this game is a multiplatformer and so you must be able to play it with a controller.

gunfights are pretty intense, and so maybe it's just better with k/m, up close and personal with the game. especially you will get your fair share of "laying back" time...watching cutscenes~

though, the cutscenes are also for covering up the loading time of gaming areas.

cover system certainly helps if you cannot aim accurately (cover, bullet-time, aim, shoot).

currently going through the game again at old school difficulty...it's really old school! constantly staying behind covers will get you killed very soon. free flying, Max's body and his bullets, is the way to play:)
