hello, i am about to upgrade my pc again, and i have been looking at the new radeons, and i think i want to crossfire a couple. now, i want no OMG! RADEON? GO GET NVIDIA GO! no. i want people to stick to htepoint, as i need advice. so, here it is.

 1.- what does anti-aliasing do?

2.- do you need a crossfire ready mobo/parts for crossfiring.

3.- do you need some special connector inside mobo/case, and, if so, can say, a sound card be inbetween cards.

4.- lastly, can a physx card be used with the radeon cards? big one because i really want to have one for the compatible games, and to ease some stress from my pc.

thanks, and no fanboy posts, i want help, not crap.

AA is a big science word for the thing that gets rid of jaggies, the more (2x, 4x, 8x etc etc) the better. A physics card is just a minature CPU that just plugs into any PCI (not exprees) slot (dont worry they work with any thing). Now honestly I would advise you to stay far away from cross fire and I mean real far. I have never ever read a good thing about it. SLI is a little point less unless you got money to burn to so I would say to just stick with just one card and if you really got money to burn then just go SLI. also I think your MOBO just has to be cross fire certified and thats it.

well, thank you, but, i have reason to disagree with the pointless sli. for one, why? then, why is crossfire worse than sli? finally, what about the special connector for sli/crossfire. do you need one, and, if so, can a sound card be in the middle of them.

The only time SLI is worth it is when you have bags of cash and wanna get a supreme machine. When you have 2 cards in a dual setup the second card is not used to even half of its normal potential. I don't know a lot about hooking up SLI or what ever but you need a certified MOBO. I don't think they put PCI slots between the 2 PCI-E slots so I dont think you could put a sound card between them? I think your getting PCI slots and PCI-E confused. ow and SLI is just way better then cross fire, they pretty much had a giant list of things wrong with cross fire and all you need for sli is 2 nvidia cards.

how is that not true? i have been working hard securing bussiness and private computers, as well as building othe ppls computers, and listening to f**king bull sh** from morons, yah, one actually didnt know you had to pusha a button to turn on the computer. and, i just decided to get myself a nice treat, and get myself a couple of 8800's, so when do digital animation, and mess with cad for fun, i can do it quickly. also i like running games at any resolution/best settings. and it is not impossible.

and i think it would be a good use of money, last a long time. but, i thank you for the help, dont want to sound mean or ungracious.

SLI is only if you have a 30'' monitor that does 25*16.

No no me first, you can go play iwth him, I'll look for his wallet. Also 8800's arn't very good with CAD and animation if you wnat that get a x2900xt their vertex shader power is unmatched. its over 200% stronger than an 8800gtx.

Intel mobos with 2 pci-e connectors support crossfire but not sli.
