yeah, either your harddrive cant copy data, or your ram is forgetting the temporary information it is being given. memtest86+ is a free program that you can burn on a cd and you go into bios and put it on boot from cd as a option, restart your pc, itll say press any key to continue, press any key to boot from cd, so do that , then itll start scanning. let it scan till you find errors, may take a minute and find thousands, or might take an hour to go thru the whole test before finding them. if you do, your ram is failing or bad, might be one stick or both or however many. if your ram is fine, im guessing you have a bad hdd. a harddrive is a little harder to test, mine was bad and even passed all the tools out there, only way is to test all your other parts are fine and if so then you know its your harddrive.
another thing you could do is burn knoppix on to a cd. knoppix is an operating system made by knoppix used to diagnose problems or to be used as a temporary operating system like windows. its small, all on a cd and doesnt require a harddrive. if it works from booting from a cd, then you know all of your parts are good but a harddrive.
understand the process? hope this helps, im glad to help bc i went thru this and had to learn all these things one by one, so im happy to give it to others all together.
i went thru the same thing, games not installing, whether from a cd or from a download (fear combat is free and it wouldnt work) and fear from a dvd wouldnt work, nor would graw. so i knew something was up
