i miss the good ole mw2 days (ghost bear ftw).
here's a thought... 32+ player mechwarrior played in a cs format where you take the first minute or two to buy equipment, no respawn, spec mode, played on huge maps + 1 commander. about the same pace as the original armored core or mw3. sounds like fun to me.
I agree, but the fast pace of AC4 is nice, just because it makes you think fast, and makes for a very enjoyable expiernce. What I would like is customability like AC, that is, specific parts, but for once I want like 50 of each body part or something, and a similar game speed, and really nice graphics, and huge maps
Gundam Wing is the bomb!
Well, With MS owning the rights to it im sure you can count on one being made in the next couple years with the new Vista/360 cross platform play over the internet, the only downside to that though is that you know if they do make one it will be a Mechassault Type and not a classic Mechwarrior game.
I don't understand what some people have against Mech 3 - I enjoyed it so much more than Mech 4.  Mech 3's machines had a sense of weight to them - even Mech 2 didn't manage that, though it was definately the best of the three.
I mean wth was up with Mech4's cockpits...and 'explosions'...and briefings/plotline - twas all god awful my friends. Â
Great idea!

It has been awhile since we were treated to some MechWarrior game on the pc. Last one I played was MW2. Just found the cd here.
Â
As a side note there was a beta mmo long long time ago called "BattlTech Solaris". Think the game was based off the company FASA PnP game. It only had a chat room, personel/world stats, and the game maps.

Hell Yeah! That's one of the main reasons I loved Mech Warrior 3 some much over other Mech Warriors. The Mechs in that one felt bigger and heavier. I thought the story was pretty epic too. I loved customizing my MadCat with two PPCs and taking out other Mechs from long distances. Ah....great times.

This thread had me go back and pull out my copies of MW 2 (31st Century Combat) and MW 3....sadly they would not install...:( .......I may have to go on a hunt for replacement copies if I can find them....My copy of MW 4 still runs fine. I also just love the big game boxes they came in, a lot of net info and the box art was just terrific !

I still love MW3 over the MW4 (except for perhaps mercs due to its greater gameplay and leading 2 lances). The graphics seem better (less cartoony) - the chassis are more adaptable, the script is better - fantastic opening movie, and then you get cool things like the arms move and target -- and you can stomp on people and blow them away. How cool is that.
You know, MechWarrior is one of my favorite "classic" series ever. It was also one of the few games my dad actually had a big interest in, besides Duke Nukem and Flight Sim.
I like MW4, but TBH I enjoyed the graphics style and the "feel" of MechWarrior 3 better, it had a more realistic and gritty look. It just felt like MW4, although it improved on alot of things, just felt like they cut a few corners in development.
I would LOVE a MW5, and I'm pretty sure a huge % of gamers on the PC (and mabye 360, considering Mech Assault over there was pretty popular) system would dive into this classic series again.
wow this is an old thread...but anyways i was wondering if anybody knows how to get MW2 Mercenaries Titanium, and i guess while im at it jus regular MW2, on Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I've been playing some MW4 but that wasn't really as good, and MW3 which is awesome, but i still want to play MW2. I just tried Mercenaries for i think the 1st time on vista, and it looked like it was going to work until i clicked install then the installer crashed :\ I have Windows 98SE on a 2nd HDD for dual boot, but i have many problems with 98 since i built my comp with pretty much the newest hardware at the time (it was built in like june 07). On the side, if anybody can help with 98 tht would also be much appreciated. I got internet to work but it doesnt recognize my CD/DVD burner/drive, doesnt recognize sound card, doesnt recognize vid card...and a few oher minor things. Anyways back to MW, i read somewhere tht somebody got MW2 Titanium to work on Vista 64-bit, and he said to install the game 1st, then dl the winXP patch for MW2 (i guess the xp patch works for vista). So i was going to try tht but it wont even install so not much i can do there. Any suggestions?
And btw, for every1 here who wants a new MW game, if u havent heard about it, Crysis is making a full mod called Mechwarrior: Living Legends, its looks sweet. theres a vid on youtube for it and u can look at the official stuff on www.mechlivinglegends.net i dont think its finished yet but they r close the vid says winter 09. MW with the grphics of Crysis is sure to be awesome, as long as they keep the best parts of mechwarrior, like lots of different mechs and lots of custimazition items. And btw there was an MW5 in the works by i think MS and FASA but it got cancelled. They should get Activision and FASA to do another game...or Hasbro, if they r still around.
I was never a fan of the Mechwarrior sims.. I believe Heavy Gear is a much better series.. The first scored only like a 7.5 but the second scored a full blown AAA....sSubZerOoWay to remind me that Heavy Gear II just will not render correctly on my current gaming PC with its 8800 GT, and the game wouldn't even run when I tested an HD 4850. I guess I'll have to get one of my older boxes up and running again just for it. Anyway, we could use a new MechWarrior...but not if it's just going to be more ass-tasticness like MW4 was. (To make it even more loathesome, MW4 even invaded the Virtual World Tesla cockpits you sometimes find in arcades in the form of Battletech: Firestorm. Sure, they added jump jets and a few other things, but Battletech 4.x in those cockpits had some unique features not present in any other Battletech/MechWarrior title, such as generator and coolant loop management. Plus, the cockpit added a lot to the experience.) I also find myself more compelled by the Steel Battalion style of mech simulation now, where mechs actually feel like mechs to an extent in the way they move, and winning fights is more about superior movement than superior aim.
nvm i got my MW2: Mercenaries Titanium working! for anybody who also wants to get MW2 titanium mercs running on vista 64-bit, this is what u have to do:
1st: Pop ur Mercs CD in and click Explore (or go to Computer, then right click ur CD drive which should have the Mercs icon, and click explore). Then it should show you the files/folders that are on the disk. Right-click Setup, then go to properties. Find the Compataiblity tab in Properties and check the box that says run in compatailiby mode, then in drop down menu choose Win95. This will allow mercs to actually install instead of crash when u click "install".
2nd: Find the MW2 Mercenaries XP Patch, i got it from here . dl & install the patch.
3rd: Go to Computer. Click on whichever hard drive you have mercs installed in, and find the game folder (its prolly in Program Files(x86)). Then find Mercswin and set compataiblity mode for win95. this optional becuase i just realized i did not set compatibility with mine so i guess its not needed.
gl and i still havent tried this with regular MW2.
