In mechwarrior3, the mouse controlled the targeting.  It was independent of the torso, or leg movement of the mech.  In otherwords, you could be sitting still and still target something by using the mouse.  In 4, it seems that its completely different.  Now with 4 in order to target something, you have to move your torso or physically face the target with your mech using your mouse.  Is there no way to change this because its kind of awkward compared to 3's targeting?

oh darn, thats too bad.  mouse targeting was a lot easier with 3.

Is there a way to use both a joystick and the keyboard at the same time by the way?

lonewolf - its basically to do with the arms.

In mechwarrior 3 you could move the arms to target - thus by moving the mouse you would move the arms around without having to adjust the torso to find your target. Pick one of the mechs without arms (Puma - I think) and you will notice that you need to swivel the torso to lock on.

In mechwarrior 4 they decided not to include this option (Pity)...

And yes you should be able to use the joystick and keyboard at the same time in Mech 3, but it is much easier using a mouse for Mech 3 due to the ability of arms being able to move - trying to do this using a hat function on the joystick can be awkward..

Joystick is pretty cool for mech 4, but mouse is still easier.
