medieval 2 total war unlock factions problem

okay, so i've defeated milan in the grand campaign. however, i haven't unlocked the faction for some reason. do i need to win the grand campaign fully? (please dont ask me to mod my game.)

Yes you need to beat the whole campaign.

Or, you can google how to unlock all the unlockable factions through editing a config file.

play short campaign with spain on easy diffiulty, that is the easiest way to unlock..

I have a problem with unlocking my factions via moving them all to playable. I did get through that part but when I go to play as one of them it just takes me back to the main menu screen. Help?Fimen1

Double check that you editted the text file properly, and that you didn't try to make of the unplayable (read: broken) factions playable.
