Hey guys, im downloading this game from Steam as i type this. I was wondering if there are any real difference in how each nation is played and what are your personal favorites. I've been playing SOASE and have found a new appreciation for RTS style game play. Did i make a good choice is choosing ME 2, total war?

Haven't played Medieval II, but from what most people said, it's a more polished version of Rome: Total War (if that's at all possible). And in that case, it should be incredible seeing as how Rome was my favorite strategy game.

I would like to know if what they said about the game is true as well. Keep me updated on this, plz.

Absolutely, YES. Medieval 2 Total War factions each have individual playing styles. You build, defend, attack, maintain your empire depending on your territory and military strength. Don't expect much from allies though, they usually backstab you constantly, so your on your own mid-game. Try out some mods that attempted to fix this diplomacy problem. IT's really good and if you liked RTW I would highly stress it...visuals are really stunning and polished though look out for the AI you can pay them 500,000 Florins, 5 princesses, and 4 regions and they'll still attack you next turn...best tip don't get friends there not worth it...though it gets really interesting when events happen (crusade, mongols etc.) and yes the nations play pretty different espically when your switching from regions I think it's Islamic, Southern Italy, Northern Europe, Eastern Europe, Roman...I think not to sure but they have different buildings and such like Islamic factions have great light inf and cav while Northern has great heavy inf and cav and Southern Italy has best milita units etc.

The biggest flaw in MII:TW is the AI. It's terrible. You pretty much have to make a consicous effort to lose a battle unless you're got nothing but peasants and you're outnumbered 5:1. It really is that bad.

My suggestion is this. Install it. Patch it and then go immediately to www.twcenter.net and head to the hosted mods section and grab something like The Long Road, Stainless Steel, or Deus Lo Vult and install one of them before playing. It'll improve your experience tenfold.
