I've checked the GamersGate sales page and it seems that Metro 2033 is on sale for $4.99. Think I should get it? Haven't really paid attention to this game till now.

YAY! i was hesitating buying it before because of the system requirements, but at that price it is a steal.

It has a terrible FOV but is a decent game none the less. I say yay.
This competition between d2d, gamersgate and steam is interesting. I mean that's a bold move of gamergate to offer the same game steam is offering as a week-end deal for half the price. We will be the true winner of this :)Franko_3Especially when it's a Steamworks game, which makes the move even more bizarre. Though in my case they don't have to foot the bandwidth, because I bought the key from Gamersgate but am downloading the game from Steam.
Get it, it's amazing, although... don't get it if you want to play it on DX11 Max settings, it runs very poorly.
Yes. I remember not being interested in it at all. All the footage I saw of it looked boring on reviews and youtube videos. Bought it last night and played for 2 hours. It has so far surpassed my low expectations. Pretty great game so far.
And it supports Steamworks, right? I love that they just put 'requires a 3rd party download and account.' DJ_LaeI laughed when I saw that in Shogun 2.

Bandwidth is a fixed cost, so that is really a non-issue.
Thanks alot.
Just bought it and now downloading via Steam. Now comes the test of patience waiting for the download the complete.
So... how easy is to setup and validate an account with gamersgate for a new user like me?Gamartto
Easy as ABC. When you buy games at GamersGate, they give you these 'Blue Coins' (Virtual Money for GamersGate) and you get a fraction of the game price. E.g If I bought a $5 game, I'd get $.25 worth of blue coins but if you bought a $50 game, you'd get $2.50 worth of blue coins. Personally love it as I've got like 5 free games from using the blue coins.

I see, but... Do you need to validate your payment method before buying anything? for example D2D requires phone verification to validate your CC before you can even use it in their site (which is a nice security feature but it's a PITA for those outside US/Canada like myself).[QUOTE="mhofever"][QUOTE="Gamartto"]So... how easy is to setup and validate an account with gamersgate for a new user like me?Gamartto

Only when you buy a game on point it'll let you choose what sort of payment you want to do : pay pal, credit card, blue coins....Why the heck not? dude it's worth a 40$ game; great storyline, best graphics I've seen up to this day as well - all with glorious DX11 effects (don't start with Crysis **** and good gameplay, not to mention all the horror partsI've checked the GamersGate sales page and it seems that Metro 2033 is on sale for $4.99. got the game today and holy crap, this game is superb!!! great story, atmosphere, and lots of detail.
How is the gunplay?
I thought the fighting in Stalker was boring, most of your time was spent aimlessly running around wondering what to do next (until you ran into some dogs nibbling at your feet).
Now Metro is from the same developers, right?

Don't think its from the same developers.
However, the gunplay is much different, and I really like the guns in the game. The weapons you get initially are not all that great, but you get different weapons within 20 minutes into the game, and they are pretty damn good, especially the shotgun and the revolver. They are totally awesome in my opinion.
Must play game for me.
The problem is that developers from Eastern Europe have this realism fetish.
I mean what's up with these gas masks? Just give me an oxygen gauge like in Doom 3 when I'm outside, throw a few canisters into the level. Done.
Too much extraneous nonsense standing in the way of a good gun fight.
No but the gunplay is really satisfying I think. Feels kind of like Bioshock but better cuz Bioshock's wasn't that good. Actually a lot of this game feels like Bioshock atmosphere wise but in a different way. Just gives off the same vibe. How is the gunplay?
