they say its badly optimized, and it seems just like a lesser version of stalker. LINK

Oh, that review praises the combat of Half-Life 2 and bashes the combat of Stalker?
It aknowledges it's based on a book and then says it copies the game worlds of Fallout 3 and BioShock?
At least it got a good score and it praised it a lot, but still. It's a bad article.
well ya, it does say the 360 version is better which I don't believe for one second (lower the settings to 360 quality if you have too). They also don't mention the specs of their rig.Oh, that review praises the combat of Half-Life 2 and bashes the combat of Stalker?

[QUOTE="dakan45"]lesser version of stalker? Why does it have exploring? Honestly this revew was unhepfull.kevy619ya it was, Im reading inbetween the lines. They say it borrows from bioshock and fallout 3, 2 games I like much less than stalker. Its all just my opinion though. But its a story driven linear fps, in what way its a lesser version of stalker? If anything it has more story in it.

I just noticed that they took off points for "No Multiplayer". Are you kidding me? Those kinds of reviewers that take off points for no multiplayer I find uncredible.
Yeah like advertisial multiplayer like games like uncharted 2, for real? Why all games gotta have multiplayer?I just noticed that they took off points for "No Multiplayer". Are you kidding me? Those kinds of reviewers that take off points for no multiplayer I find uncredible.

I knew it wouldn't be GREAT. As soon as I saw that it was selling for $10 less than normal prices, I could already tell.orb_03_2006thats only because newer developers tend to give their first games cheaper for a better impression. thank god it doesnt have a multiplayer though.

Im glad this game doesnt have MP, basically all FPS games have an online mp and 9/10 its not worth playing
I still have it pre-ordered Im looking forward to it but the more I read about it the more I feel regret, from everything I have read this is what I have:
Pros:
- Very atmospheric
- Lengthy game with great twists in story
- In depth back story
Cons:
- Poorly optimized
- Buggy and needs a patch
- Poor gun play
hopefully it gets patched and is playable by release, fingers crossed.
"I can't stand it when critics dock points because doesn't have multiplayer, co-op, whatever the hell it is that they think every game under the sun needs to have. Just rate it based on what it is, not docking points because it isn't something else."
the first comment of that review was perfect and summed up what i thought. also the reviewer is an idiot, just because he doesnt like STALKER's gameplay doesnt mean its bad, he just has no patience for it
The reviewer is saying that the PC version is extremely un-optimized. How is that not helpful? Look at what they say about the 360 version - that it's extremely polished. That tells me a lot, so I'm not quite certain how that's 'not useful'. It is extremely useful - no way would I put a pre-order on this. It's got turkey written all over it.
Um, the points were detracted because of the crap gunplay... and because the game appears to be... you know... really poorly optimized. No game is worth an 8 out of ten if it runs like crap. (And now the super high system requirements kind of do make sense.) And what's with the STALKER reference? This game isn't anything like STALKER? This is a corridor game. There are no wide open spaces anywhere. It's not a free roaming game. You travel straight down a corridor - so it's much more like Half Life 2 in that sense. Why attack the reviewer 'because he doesn't like Stalker gameplay'? There is no 'Stalker gameplay' in this game."I can't stand it when critics dock points because doesn't have multiplayer, co-op, whatever the hell it is that they think every game under the sun needs to have. The reviewer attacked Stalker's gunplay while praising HL2's. Therefore he's an idiot.

And you must be blind - either that, or you didn't play the same Stalker I did.
It was not uncommon for me in Stalker to unload an entire clip while standing virtually at point blank range, only to watch the guy I was shooting at stumble backwards, and then shoot me dead almost right away.
It amazes me that people would defend that crap. Or people will say: huh, that never happened to me? That's just absurd. The weapon mechanics in Stalker were some of the worst I've ever seen in any game, ever.

I know I hate this as well. Then it seems like devs start adding features in that are not needed just to get high review scores, but it ends up ruining the game. RE5 should not have had co-op for example.

Stalker isnt MW2 and neither is Metro 2033. you actually have to aim and weapons have insane spread when you spray in STALKER. frankly if metro has gunplay like stalker then it will be awesome. also the game isnt poorly optimized, its just very taxing. it has some pretty awesome lighting effects that take up lots of resources i bet.[QUOTE="WufusRainwright"]

In Stalker Clear Sky I stood right in front of a guy - I'm talking five feet away from him - and unloaded an entire clip straight into him and all he did was stumble backwards. I've fired a gun in real life before. There's no way that that's going to happen. That' s a cock and bull story.I do not get why you people do not understand that those parts listed are for OPTIMUM settings. Meaning if you want DX11, AA, high rez, and everything else high also then those parts will do it. They are allowing the game to grow as new hardware comes out. Hmmmmmm sounds like what Crysis did, but yet people don't complain about it with Crysis.Have you seen the rediculous system requirements?
Optimum Requirements:
- Processor: Core i7 CPU
- Memory: 8GB RAM or higher
- Graphics: NVIDIA DirectX 11 compliant graphics card (GeForce GTX 480 and 470)
- DirectX®: DirectX 11
LOL.

Crysis was the new benchmark for graphics. Metro 2033 looks like a STALKER clone with visuals that hardly seem top-of-the-line.
It makes perfect sense to me why some would be angry at the system requirements if they want the best experience possible.
Yes, we've seen that. Before this review they didn't make sense. Now they do. The game is a bad port. Anybody who buys this game out of the gate is a fool.Have you seen the rediculous system requirements?

Then take away the optimal settings, and just look at the recommended and the required. Really does not seem all that bad if you ask me.[QUOTE="-Unreal-"]Yes, we've seen that. Glad your here, seem to know everything. Why take my word when you can take other reviewers' word on it? It's an excuse to avoid saying "you need the top of the line hardware to compensate for our crap engine."
Like your comment, mines is also sarcastic since I already know you've made up your mind anyway.
