I'm a noob doing research before my 1st PC build, and am getting a mini tower case.

My question is, I want a decent motherboard but don't want to waste money or ram on an integrated or onboard video card.

Is this an option for a micro ATX board?

I doubt you will save much money on a mobo w/o Integrated Video. Besides, adding a discrete graphics card usually makes the onboard go away, if you enable it in BIOS. RAM problem fixed.

Would an integrated card detract from a card I installed myself, in memory or overall performance?

Nope you just disable the onboard video from BIOS and it'll act like it was never even there to begin with.

Nope, if you disable onboard video in your BIOS, it won't share (Steal) RAM with your system anymore; that is, if you have a REAL video card to install..
