I'm planning on getting the Microsoft Flight Simulator X, I found it for a really steep price ($350 cheapest where I live)

I'm not willing to order it online (Don't ask why). From the video's I saw it looks like a great game.

My question is : Is the game so great that you can travel the world and for example see buildings, sky scrapers and the

plane's will get engine failures or there is a chance of a firein the plane?

$350 is a very steep price, interested to know where you live. I loaded up a quick flight in a Cessna 172 at KJFK (New York) and played around. These are on high settings with default scenery, you can get some payware or freeware sceneries and airports that make the game look much better. Make sure you get a joystick for the game, playing with the keyboard is worthless.

EDIT: ^^ X-Plane is the minority and probably will be for a long time.

Bit of advice, get the Deluxe or Gold Version (comes with Acceleration). The one thing about FS is you can fly around the whole world unlike other flight type games. A payware developer has moved some of his operations to Xplane. Carenado, maker of some great GA aircraft, has stopped developing for FS9 and will continue to develop for FSX.

I think it's safe to say the majority of flight sim afficionados prefer FSX over X-Plane 9. I have both and I find FSX the more fun of the two. The game lends itself well to being modded which was the first thing I did when I bought the game. There are plenty of exellent mods both freeware and payware. Some are aircraft addons while others improve on the skies, terrrain/airports/cities, and weather.

Some of my FSX pics:

I don't have many FSX pics, but some of this same scenery and aircraft are available for FSX.

PMDG will be releasing the 737NGX later this year. The sceneries above are for FS9, but are available for FSX as noted above. The PMSG Beech 1900C/D will also work in FSX, but there are some small changes you will have to make.
