Probably means more GFWL games. Not necessarily more PC games. Just more publishers being paid by microsoft to use GFWL instead of/on top of Steam.

I don't think we will see anymore GFWL games at this point.

I agree, I think GFWL will start to die out. But, MS might decide to make a PC Games Client for their next Windows. Like an inbuilt Steam Client right into Windows. They are trying to do it on every platform I've noticed. For example the new Halo RTS is playable on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.My bet is MS will push gaming on their phones more then P.C.

But where are the games ?
I've been waiting for a new Age of Empires and Age of Mythology for a long time now. I don't have much hope they will ever make one because MS focus is on Xbone.
How many Xbone games published by MS have they said will release on PC ?
There's AoE Online, but its the devs that don't want to make Empires anymore for a while. They said they were burned out after so many games. But where are the games ?

You got a link for that? They made Orcs Must Die and OMD 2 in the mean time and an IOS game. I wish they would return back to the series or at least make an RTS again. A follow up to AOM would be great as that game is a decade old now.
AOE: Online was also a big failure, content production for that has halted as it didn't make any profit. Leave it to Microsoft to turn a multi-million selling franchise into a free-to play flop. They scared everyone off by making it the definition of pay to win at the start. Sure they fixed it later on by making it true free-to-play but everyone lost interest by then. I've been playing it since it was in beta and I must be one of the few people that are still playing it.
Meanwhile their AOE2:HD edition was a success. It shows that people still care for the series and I think MS can both focus on Xbone games as well as PC exclusives like AOE.
And I really wonder how many of the games MS publishes on the new Xbox they are also bringing to PC. It was a genuine question. I personally think not a single one so that shows how much interest MS has in PC gaming.
^^ I remember reading an interview with a dev when he was asked if they were going to make AoE4. He said the team had been making that series for years and were just tired of the same, that's why they moved onto other games.FelipeInside
I think MS moving from PC gaming to Xbox gaming has more to do with it to be honest.
We haven't had a proper AOE game since 2005. I can get being tired and wanting to do different things, but it's been really long now. And they have done different stuff in the meanwhile.
We haven't heard a thing from Robot Entertainment since last year. I'm sure they are busy on something and I hope it's a new AOE, or a new AOM.
Microsoft is no loger able to provide a constant and sustained flux of good games to His own console (Rare is destroyed, as so is Lionhead, and the Halo franchise is nowhere dominant as was in the past in the console space), so how in hell could they be relevant in the PC scene?
They killed EAX, which was almost an standard in audio (and much better that the current lack of any advance in that field) which was replaced by nothibg, they killed they own main franchises (AoE, Flight Simulator, Mechwarrior...
The only reason I still play in a Windows based machine is because is an open platform, has most of the share of the market (compared against Linux or Mac) and external developers has ton of high quality content to PC, but Microsoft itself means nothing in the current PC gaming scene. They don't have revelant contents, they don't have technology, they lack any viable alternative to Steam/Origin...  They are pretty much nothing. And I think that is good as the things are currently...

MS screwed PC gaming when it closed Ensemble Studios after forcing them to make Halo Wars instead of working on a new Age of Empires or Age of Mythology.Rattlesnake_8
They pretty much forced all of their PC developing studios to work on Xbox games and completely abandoned PC gaming at one point.
Halo Wars was awful compared to AOE and AOM. Who's brilliant idea was it to make an RTS for consoles ?
i would guess they're going to have to push for a PC gameing comeback because no one one wants the x1. LOL the irony of it all!http://games.on.net/2013/08/valve-veteran-leaves-to-join-microsoft-will-push-for-windows-gaming/

I don't think Robot Entertainment has access to the IP anymore. Any chance of an AOE4 would be a "spritual successor" and then that's only if Robot Entertainment wants to do it. Sounds like for now, they're content on TPS/Tower Defense hybrid games.

MS will never help PC gaming as long as it treats the Xbox and Windows as Competitors.
GFWL, and the deaths of ACES, FASA, and Ensemble are hard to forgive.
Perhaps they can do something right this time around, though they've had nearly 10 years to do that already. Microsoft trying(potentially) to exert control over policy or distrution on windows can only hurt PC gaming as far as I'm concerned.
Prove me wrong Microsoft.
Hell, they couldn't even beat EA/Origin or Ubisoft's Uplay at this point in the game. It's too late Microsoft as far as PC gaming goes. Elann2008NEVER too late. The more PC devs the better !!!

But what does MS develop for PC at the moment ? Shared games between windows phone and windows 8. I don't think that's what people on here want, I don't want that.
But if they keep publishing games like Deadlight and Mark of the Ninja on PC and perhaps show some interest again in making worthwhile exclusives for PC, then I'm interested.

Last time I checked Windows 8 was a desktop OS???
Hopefully they also, like you say, publish future good titles as well.

And you think people that visit forums like these are all the PC gamers out there? Nope. I think that some games it's great to have them available on a desktop, tablet and phone at the same time with also cloud sync so when u finish off on one device, you can leave home and continue on another. Nothing wrong with that (even BF4 is sort of doing it). So you don't care about any devs that don't make the games you want to play? Isn't that a bit selfish? I don't like RTS that much but I still care and want companies like Relic and Blizzard to keep making them cause I know there are people who enjoy them.
What's wrong with that game? If some people like it and want to play it then why do u have an issue? It's a great idea to have a game that runs on all platforms and syncs between them. Im not saying they all should be.

Where am I being hostile? lol.... sorry but I'm not, just trying to understand ur point. We are talking about MS as a games company, and ur statement was "If MS does not make the games I want to play than why should I be interested ?" so I read that as "They don't make games I'm interested in so why should I care about them". Surely you can see that the way I read that statement wasn't too off the mark.[QUOTE="Elann2008"]Hell, they couldn't even beat EA/Origin or Ubisoft's Uplay at this point in the game. I highly doubt Microsoft will support and hire mod developers, let alone support mods in general. To the PC community, that is a very important aspect in PC gaming. At best, it will be GFWL again, rebranded, and it will get stuck in mud. If they want to develop games for the PC, go ahead. But I highly doubt they are going to become a force when it comes to being a PC digital games platform and distributor like Valve.

Actually, MS did support mod makers enough so that said mod makers created a whole market for their mods (which people pay cash for). MS released SDKs for their Flight Simulator games and mod makers created both freeware and payware (with some payware taking years to develop) that players could use in the games.

Keyword: "Did." And people paying cash for mods? Come on. That's lame. Steam workshop is free, as far as I know. If you want cash for MODs, they should all be donations. If not, sell it as a full game, expansion, or DLC and make it official. If it's a mod, it should be free. If you want to sell it for money, don't sell it as a mod.
All I read from what you told me, was a lot of exchange for money that people probably got sick and tired of when there are tons of available resources out there besides Microsoft's crappy PC platform. I don't know how anyone can defend them for the way they abandoned the PC gaming community. It's quite obvious why the majority of PC gamers do not like or care about anything Microsoft has to say about coming back to the PC gaming community.

Yes, the keyword is did support modders and yes, people still pay for mods. MS Flight Simulator spun off a large market for 2nd party software (mods) be it aircraft such as the PMDG 737NGX (three years to create if I remember right) with input from an airline pilot who flies the 737NG in real life as well as others who wrote documentation (flight manuals), to scenery to AI aircraft to weather. All this was facilitated by MS with the release of SDKs that people could use. Fact, people do not spend years doing something for free.
It isn't a stretch to want to get paid for your hard work. Companies like Aerosoft and SimMarket are outlets for those payware mods and people still pay money to buy them. You do not have to if you do not want to, but there are plenty of people around the world with the disposable income to do so. FS is so big, people even build home built cockpits.
There is also payware for other simulator games such as Train Simulator 2012 (offical and unoffical). Who cares if MS no longer supports PC gamers. There are better titles in the genres that they developed and published (outside of FS for right now, but there is supposedly one in the works last I heard) that will do it better than MS did. MS has failed at the PC game market for some time now and it does not look as it will improve any time soon. Who cares really?
