Just curious as to what everyone defines as their 'minimum framerate' also, what about resolution.

Personally mine is around 25, however, I used to play Oblivion on med-low at 640x400 resolution with around 15fps avg, I don't know how I did, but I cant go back to it after my upgrade, just too painful.

Min FPS: 25fps

Min Resolution: 1024x768

20fps is where I draw the line.

Resolution... I always try and stay on my native 1680x1050, but if I have to go lower, I won't go below 1280x768.

30 is the lowest I'll go... But few games make my rig go that low....( Crysis is the only one that I know of) But even then it was very smooth an playable... I always play at 19x12, all options maxed, AA etc....

Minimum average fps for me is 30. And in online shooters, racing games or other fast paced stuff I want average of 45 or so. Not that I measure it most of the time so it's an estimate.

Resolution at my monitors native - 1680x1050, I've sometimes played at 1440x900 but anything below that and it gets too pixelated on my LCD.

30 but maybe lower if the games feel smooth, like Crysis at 24 frames.

I always use the native res 1440x900 For minimum frame rate depends on the game. For instance on Crysis i can stand some drops to low 20's ( less than 20 cant stand it though) but for a racing game like GRID i cant stand anything less than 35-40fps same goes for competitive multiplayer fps like UT ( in fact on those i draw the line even higher) On RTS games though especially single player i can stand playing all the time 20-25fps and i dont mind

I won't go below 25 FPS, but resolution I've gone down to 640x480 in some cases.

Radeon X1300, Best card on the market.

I have low standards when it comes to frame-rate and resolution, mostly because I used to play 3D games on a 486.

Min FPS: I'd say about 5-10. Depends highly on the genre though.

Preferable FPS: Anything over 30 and I'm fine with it. I'd prefer 85+, but my PC can rarely perform that well.

Min resolution: Depends entirely on the game's age. Pre-2000=320x200, after that 640x480.

Preferable resolution: I prefer 1600x1200, since my monitor can do that at 85Hz. 1920x1440 and 2048x1536 are good, but only 70 and 60Hz so it kind of hurts the eyes after a while.

TV runs at 24, and thats what I shoot for as min on games. Far as resolution, I'll drop or raise to keep my framerate up but I always keep it in 16:10 ratio. So 1280x800 is the lowest I go.

I draw the line around 25 FPS. I usually try to play on my monitors max resolution of 1680x1050. If it lags, I would rather lower other qualities than lower the resolution.

20 fps is my minimum.

For resolution, 1280x800 is the minimum for me since it's generally the lowest resolution with 1.6 aspect ratio on games.

I always play at 1440 X 900 because it's my monitor's native resolution. Depends on the game as most said. For me, 35-ish is desired because I like fast paced action. I have to say though that Crysis was oddly smooth at about high 20's fps. I've also experience some games that feel like they're running at 60fps, but was actually less when I turned on Fraps. I thought Burnout Paradise was running at 60fps all the time, but it actually fluctuated between 25 to 50. My low end tolerance is probably 15 fps, and that would probably for a game like Simcity where minimal movement is required- but of course those games don't usually have a demanding requirement anyways. I think I played FFVIII on my old Pentium I rig at about 5 fps which wasn't fun at all - makes me wonder how I even got to disc 2 in the game...

It's all depending about the games for me, but most of the time it is around 20 fps. I don't have a minimum for the resolution, but always prefer to keep the native ratio.

For me 30 fps is the minimum and I play at a res of 1600x900, because it's my native but most importantly because it's best for my XFX 9600gt.

there is a definite a difference in how a game looks from 30fps to 60fps i don't need fraps and i can be watching someone else play and know there was a framerate drop below 60 simply by how the game looks. and when you playing you feel the game become less smooth unresponsive.

It depends on the game for me, some games, like crysis, have blur and stuff to make the game look more fluid, I think crysis still looks fine at sub 30 fps and if you're playing a single player rpg or something where aiming isn't a big part of the game, around 30 is fine. Playing something like an online shooter, the framerate has to be higher than 60 for me. If I'm playing on an old rig, I'll sacrifice eye candy until the game is fluid enough for me.

I think I stop noticing things getting more fluid after around 100, 125fps at the very most, anything higher than that is just a waste.

depends on the game. an mmorpg can be 15 and still look fine. rts can be almost that as well. for FPS/TPS type games 20-30 would be my min. I also try to stay at my native 1680x1050 since non native looks terrible on lcds.

Depends on the game and the pace of the game. A game with a pace like ArmA 2 I only need 15-20. With a game like Crysis, 30-45. With a game like UT or CSS I need 60+.

Interesting, I seem to always take note of my fps, seeing as my rig is unstable (Good-ish card, rubbish processor) my FPS varies a lot from high to low, so instead of my eyes getting used to a certain frame rate it starts to dip/ increase, can be very annoying, I mean, I'd prefer to play at... say 25fps constantly rather than what I do now which is having a minimum fps of say 20 and highest of 45 and when it changes in between those numbers I notice it like ****. Would some motion blur mods help give games the feeling of smoothness? (Oblivion and Fallout 3 in particular)

In singleplayer gameplay, the lowest I'll accept is 20. Of course the only game that'll do that to my system is Crysis on very high with AA. Multiplayer can never go below 40.
