Hello. My new PC arrived recently (AMD Phenom Quadcore/ 9800 GTC / 4 gigs of ram / MSI K9A2 / Vista) and its been runnig fine. I recently installed Crysis, and the enviroment seems to be constructing itself in front of my eyes. A single step forward will render a big rock in the near distance, and a step back will cause it to dissapear. THis is also a problem for certaain bushes and lighting effects. I have tried the game on low to high setttings and it does not seem to remedy the problem. Is there somthing i should change with my card settings? Is this a problem of draw distance, and if so what should I do? I have been given suggestions about adjusting CFG settings and what not, but i was wondering if anyone had any other ideas or further thought abou changing console command settings?
There is some tweaking you can do to change the distance at which it renders objects, I'm not exactly sure which value it is but this guide should help if you read the whole thing.
I installed the latest patch but it didnt help. I have got the latest drives for my graphics card, and my system is a high enough spec. Does anyone have any other idea? this is really starting to worry me, that my pc might not be in working order.
No its perfectly normal. Thats just the way crysis is. Even with all settings set to high alot of objects get drawn at quite a close distance. You notice it very cleary right at the start of the game when you first get in a humvee type vehicle after clearing the first korean 'camp' and switch off the jamming device thingy. When you get the humvee and drive the short distance to the beach you notice rocks and things just 'popping up' as you move along. I think you need to set 'object detail' to very high to really push the draw distance up. This is DX10 only, so if your on xp you would need to use the 'xp hack' (google it) to set object detail to very high. www.tweakguides.com has some further explanation of this under the crysis section.
