Mirror's Edge, DICE's highly anticipated parkour-running first-person action title, may have had its PC version delayed into the calendar year 2009.

Retail websites like GameStop have changed Mirror's Edge's PC release date to early January 2009, Big Download recently noticed. The delay does not appear to affect the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, which retailers have pegged for release this year.

Publisher Electronic Arts' only official word is that the game will arrive in "winter," though representatives from DICE have previously told Shacknews that the PC and console versions would be released simultaneously.

Very interesting. EA delayed the pc version of mercs 2 a week later. Ubisoft delayed the pc version of Hell's Highway a week after console release. Must be a new trend we are going to be seeing more often. PC versions being delayed until after console launch. It seems like a good idea.

That's fine anyway for me, not like there's a shortage of games until Xmas. A few good early next year will be great, especially for my wallet.

The publisher knows best.

Also, January is during winter.

How does it require intelligence? Aren't all the paths colour coded? You also have a form of bullet time and context-sensitive commands... It looks to be as challenging as Assassin's Creed.

that's funny bizarre question .. like asking why the sky is blue .. it is because brains are involved ... all brains come with their own intelligent quotient realized or not .. and if you think they are going to hand-held your gameplay for you .. you're mistaken.

you have to choose to how, when, and where to execute .. should be obvious .. but i can spare some time to enlighten

i hope this is for a good reason (drm measures being removed), not for a bad reason (more drm measures being added). seriously, if the spore piracy issues cause ea to put on even worse drm measures, i'm going to hunt down every pirate and kick his ass.

It's not even official yet. Why is everyone saying 2009.. You can't possibly 100% trust Gamestop's date. At least wait for the official word...

Be more productive to hunt down the idiot EA executive who made the final call on the DRM, and kick his/her ass instead. Less travel and work involved, and it would probably be more effective. Hell, I'll buy the plane tickets!

Have you actually seen gameplay footage? You run towards something glowing bright red and hit the jump button - that's pretty much it. It's a platformer, not a puzzle game and it's all about speed and momentum. That means reactions, not thought. It doesn't strike me as being any different from a shooter in terms of the amount - or type - of thought required.

There may be a few puzzles here and there, but traversing the environment is all about awareness and reaction time. The game is too fast pased to have the player humming and harring.
