My new CPU -Intel core2 duo E8400- is missing one pin. One of my friends did it while he was helping me set up my pc. I am afraid to connect the CPU to the motherboard. Is there a chance it will work?

I've heard about a datasheet where you can see if the pins have any use because some of them have not(?). Its in the far left corner... Any help is really appreciated.

RMA the CPU and tell your friend he's fired.

How is it missing a pin, the Core 2's don't have pins on them. Did he mess up the motherboard pins?

Would it be possible to post a picture of what you mean. I don't think those things just come off, but I could be wrong.

Is it possible it was designed like that, and you just did not notice at first. I have never seen a E8400 so I don't know what they are supposed to look like on the bottom.

Many people have had done the same thing and replaced the pin with a piece of paper clip. It seems to work just fine. Gold or copper wire would probably do a bit better.

Did this processor work? I have the same missing ,,pin" and I don't know what to do. Does anyone know if this processor works without this pin?
