hello, im a huge mmorpg fan and currently i dont know what to play. ive played daoc, vanguard, everquest, WOW (pre expansion) and i did everything there was to do in these games. so i was wondering if anyone had any advice of what mmo to go to now, the only ones that intrest me are EQ2, FFXI, and i was thinking of trying WOW burning crusade. ive never played EQ2 or FFXI but if anyones going to suggest going back to WOW my question for you would be is there now more end game content then there was before and are a vast majority of the players still really immature? thanks all

Hellgate is really good. If you like shooters and or hack 'n slash its great. If your looking for straight on MMORPG I would get back into WoW. FF11 is TERRIBLE, dont touch it with a 1000ft pole.

HGL is not an MMO.

Check out EVE. And if you don't like scifi, try LOTRO.

He asked about an MMO, not a FPS RPG.

Ya, hellgate is not an MMO but it is certainly an excellent substitute, much like Guild Wars.

As for MMOs, did you think of taking a break? There are a lot of nice looking MMOs coming soon (Conan for me!) and it might be nice to save your energy for those games. Besides, with all the great games coming out this month and over the next quarter I think you'll be happy.

Also give Tabula Rasa a try, I played the beta and found it pretty fun. EVE trial was good fun too, GREAT community.

I suggest you wait for other mmorpg coming out next year like Warhammer or Age of Conan.

The only MMORPG I've played if FFXI and City of Heroes/Villians. They are worlds apart. FFXI is hardcore, plain and simple. If you want to be challenged and have huge periods of time on your hands, this is the game - choose a Galka Mage and boy, you've got a huge game ahead of you.. Its deep and compelling, quite addictive and frustrating but it has its charms no doubt.

City of Heroes/Villians is a more modern MMORPG which allows a more casual approach and focuses less on grind but fun, not that FFXI doesn't have fun parts, but there is a huge amount of grinding once you start getting to higher levels. If I had all the time in the world, I'd choose FFXI every time - COH/V is a good fun game with MMORPG aspects but is not a deep game if that's what you're looking for.

I heard Lord of the Rings online was VERY good. WoW fanboys are bashing it because it won best MMO awardsomewhereover Warcraft. Forgot what it was called. It was announce on a G4 website show called the MMO report.

EDIT: Typing too fast. it was a MMO award for something over WoW in some video game award show.

http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/tag/176/The_MMO_Report.html The one that was uploaded November 2nd, haven't watch the new one yet. About to.

EDIT2 : It won the golden Joystick award right over the burning Crusade for best PC game.

Play ffxi for sure. Its the best and deepest MMo ive ever experienced. Like you im a huge MMO fan, and ive played almost all of the good ones out there and trust me, ffxi is the best. Biggest world I have seen, yes bigger than WoW, its more realistic than MMO's like WoW, best character design, and the style is great. The lvl system is highly dependent on parties you form which is a very nice change for most MMO's. The community is great too. Let me say now, this is a very challenging MMO, but also the most rewarding.

You may as well wait until the next batch of huge MMOs (Warhammer, Conan, Bioware's MMO, Bethesda's MMO, Fallout MMO, etc.) come out.

LOTRO is a good game, dont get me wrong, it just plays too much like WoW imo. Thats why I stopped playing it.I wanted something new and refreshing, not WoW with a LOTR skin.

But, like I said, its a good game and if you are a big LOTR fan you cant beat it. Definately worth a try. The story is a lot more engrossing as well, they incorporate it into the game beautifully imo.
