hi what is your fave MMORPG whether it be runescape or ogame
just share which you think is best

World if Warcraft, yes i play edt but MMORG are not the best, they eat much time, well maybe u wanted to say MMORPGS are best for kids, where u have nothing to do or work...etc
xsqmko
I find that MMOs eat the time you have to spend. If you have 4 hours to play a day, those 4 hours can be spent on either WoW or Battlefield 2...what's the difference?
As long as you're having a good time I don't see the problem in it. I know people that play Halo 3 for 16 hours and they tell me that I'm addicted to the current MMO I'm playing. Hypocrisy is the most common flaw within gamers.
The fact that you even consider Runescape to be an option shocks me.
RUNESCAPE! GRRRRR!
bangell99
I think he meant scamming. You gotta love that reaction from those "things" that play it. But yeah the graphics make me nautious so I havent gone there in a good year at least.
And on the topic...
I vote Everquest due to the mature community and quality of gameplay. MMORPGs are just roam games with communitites which is why WOW is frowned apon by many (community of immature children) even when they know the quality of gamesplay. But the best MMORPG for a person would be based on their opinion.

Ok, u smart guy, problem in Wow is that later u will make friends and join raid guild that eat your precius time, and not 4 hours smarty, raids can take a whole night,YES only a single raid plus many many more quests and problems with profesins and stuff, Play MMORPG's and post, feel what i feel and post.

Lol, what? I can't understand 70% of what you wrote but I'll try my best to comprehend it.
The point of my post is: If you have 4 hours to devote to ANY game it shouldn't matter what it is. If you havea job and go to school, like myself, you can only play for a certain period of time each day.
If you have 12 hours a day to play, chances are the game you're playing isn't at fault.
And please don't try to reply, chances are the next thing you write i won't understand either.
FFXI. Deep storyline, challenging, non-repetitive quests, teamwork, and an amazing community came together to form the best MMO i've ever played. I never met a single person in the 6 months I played it who ever insulted me or another person, whereas if I play WoW everyone talks in l33t speak and harasses eachother. FXI had the most mature community i've ever seen in an online game. Asid e from that, I loved the battle system (which most people seem to hate) because it involves alot of temwork and strategy. It greatly saddens me whoever that I don't really have enough time to devote to it. I don't mind that it takes a couple hours to get a level, but the 3 hours waiting in town for a party is just too much.
FFXI to me is the greatest MMO ever conceived. If only tehre were a quicker way to get a party it would be a 10/10 masterpiece in my books.

ya, but only WoW players get crap for it. My friend works all day, comes home eats a can of tuna and a slice of whole wheat bread, works out 4 days a week...then plays Halo 3 the rest of the time.
Thanks for bringing some reason to this constant debate.
As for the question, I play WoW. Its got a large, generally nice community. It is easy, accessable, yet extremely deep. Instances are fun and no, you dont need to spend more than an hour to get anything out of a run. PvP is also very fun.
City of Villains/Heroes.
More challenging then any other MMO. I raid in North Wing in old EQ. I raid the PoA. I raid the AoW...and these encounters where all based on artificial challenges...in CoH/V, you won't waste 3 hours because 1 person DC...you shouldn't wipe because of a DC if you plan your stuff right, but even if you wipe, it isn't crippling...it is challenging, not crippling.
Progression. A level 50 is stronger then a level 1. A level 1 can solo 2 or 3 minions it level. A level 50 can solo a level 52 EB + boss + 2 lieutnants + scores of minions...you are BECOMING, not some sort of handicapped lamething...the more you progress, the more you feel powerful!
Best stories I see in any MMO,and facultatives. This is right, you can avoid it if you don't want to read it. The story is optional. It is awesome, and the devs are quite creative, and the NPCs use your name a LOT. You can read it...but if you don't want to, for any reason (just like your grouped and you don't want to keep anyone waiting on you), you can ignore it completely and do it and it is FUN. Yet, if you have the time...the stories are awesome. One day you can, you read it, another you can't, you don't. And you still play and enjoy the game and have tons of fun.
See, if your group/raid wipe, you lose a whooping total of 5 minutes. If you wipe for 4 hours on an aspect (you fail dozens of time), well...you don't understand something very important, or other players...most MMOs put artificial challenge and then they take you by SURPRISE and if you don't react fast...lose 2 hours. ROFL. Some peoples will says CoH/V lack depth, I say it just don't put any artificial downtime/challenge on you.
Customisation (powers)...5 AT...each has a choice of 4-8 primary and 4-8 secondaries...so you have roughtly 125 classes...of course you will encounter many peoples who are a hybrid of what you are (an half is the same, and/or the same archtype)...but you are unlikely to find someone who has taken the same primary/secondary you did. Even if this happen, they will almost never take the same powers (attacks/defenses) and alternates pools/patron/epic...and then you add all the slotting...that is customisation. You really feels unique. At worst, 1 player on 3 is the same AT, then 1 on 3 is the same primary in this ATand 1 on 3 is the same secondary...so worst case scenario is about 1 player on 27 which is your class, if I am been optimist and your a cookie cutter player of doom and play on the cookie-cutting server, maybe 1 on 18 for the absolute favorite combo...but then he almost certainly developp it in many differents ways then you. Alternatives powerset/patron/epic, slotting and IO selections...
Customisation (look) Find any game which allows you as much freedom on character creation. Even virtual life games usually offers less...this is amazing, especially for a MMORPG.
Freedom of choices. You can earn EVERYTHING by soloing if this is your desire...or you CAN group...or you CAN PvP....or you CAN raid. You play what you enjoy. You want to be the best soloer ever...then solo my friend...solo! You want to be the best grouper of the server...group all you want!
Travel powers are amazing. Full vertical movement, very fast flying/jumping/running/ports. Metro/Ferry.
Epic classes. Unlike some other MMOs which are getting 1 epic class recently...we have 2 for a LONG time and more are promised and will come our way!
Progression...you really can developp your characters a LOT. Gaining 50 levels is just a start...then you have accolades which are all very long EQ quests in time lenght...and you have the slotting of all your powers which is VERY long.
I could go on, but I would just tell you that...most MMOs are feeling so backward I couldn't even play them unless it was work and I was been paid for it.
FFXI to me is the greatest MMO ever conceived. If only tehre were a quicker way to get a party it would be a 10/10 masterpiece in my books.
Night_stalker01
It needs a lot more than quicker parties to get a 10/10 in my book, the game is aging horribly, as well as the fact the budget for the game appears very small, regardless of the fact they can put a much larger effort into making the title better.
(their horrible customer support with all the recent 2400+ comprimised accounts isn't helping either. )
EverQuest 1.
It really turned online games into what they are today and took the classic overhead 2D view and turned the fantasy worlds entirely 3D. Maybe it was because it was the first MMO i ever played or maybe it was the game itself but that game captivated me and truly made me want to see every inch of the world.
On top of that it had a great community. The people who tended to play it were older in age and a lot of them enjoyed just being there and lending a hand without ever having to get anything in return.
MMO's today are full of kids who want to grow their Epeens and be teh uber!111oneone. With an environment like that I can't help but lose any sort of immersion a game like WoW could have created for me. That's why EQ1 will always be remembered as the best MMO in my opinion.
Anyone play LotRo?A1B2C3CAL
ya, i did for a couple months. Its a fantastic MMO, too. But for some reason it just didnt hook me. I really think its the community that makes people play an MMO for extended periods of time.

My point is that u will become addicted, and u can't control your time, when u playa MMORPG time goes like hell. If u play one hour in Wow you can't do nothing, a quest can take 1 hour. Many people that played Wow give up for Single Player games a long while ago, and become addicted and ruin theyr life completly, check youtube, and yeah get your glasses to read this, LOL.
MMORPG's are for Kids, if u come from work and play wow then u have no friends, and no chick :P, got 5 friends that did that, nop, those are not friends, they are WOW n00bs.
Becoming addicted is your fault. If you can't manage your time accordingly then you have no one to blame but yourself. I'm getting sick to my stomach with these constant kids blaming a damn video game for their lifes problems. Grow up and except some responsibility.
I know casual WoW players that have plenty of fun in the game. They play about 3 hours a day, not everyday, and accomplish what they set their eyes on. And I know a handful of hardcore raiders with that thing called a "life".

I don't think that MMOs are limited to just time playing. I see people at school, rather than doing work, look up their WoW characters. They probably wouldn't spend as much time thinking about Halo, but MMOs are MUCH worse than any other game when abused. I can see your point, but it only applies in certain situations. MMOs are ment to take time because companies make more money off you. They DESIGNED it to be addictive. Look at the game (mainly the gear system). The more you play in one sitting, the higher the level of an instance you can do (the better gear you get. Not to mention it takes multiple runs to get the correct gear). I quit as soon as I realized I couldn't ever be as good as someone who spends night and day playing this game.

I really can't believe how much time I'm wasting on this post...
Let me say this one more time: It is the players fault if he becomes "addicted" to a game. Some of you posters sound like Tyra Banks and Dr. Phil with your BS psychology to blame the game for the person's problems.
Do people get addicted to video games? Yes...Is it easier to get addicted to some games rather than others? Yes...but it's the players fault. People also get addicted to golf, and football, and sex....is it the NFL's fault that Bob watches football on the couch all weekend?
If you can't manage your life you're going to be in for a rude awakeming when you wake up on your 30th birthday.

I know several women that spend most of their time on myspace...and this is A LOT of time I'm talking about. Sure, I play EvE and WoW, but, my play time on both of those game doesn't even make a dent in the time these women are spending myspace'ing.
To answer the question: Auto Assault. The game had problems. But, the community was great. Probably the best group of players I have ever met. It probably helped that there weren't very many players towards the end, but w/e. Long live AA.

Of course is the players fault, do u think one becomes addicted if he wants to?, he doesn't realize that, just when he has problems in real life. This knows everyone.
To single player video games u won't became so addicted, u just finish your game that u really like and done, every1 play games in these days, nvm, but......
For sex?, LOL?, of course everyone likes sex, are u a 40 years old virgin with bad past?
We talk about MMORPG's not REAL LIFE in this topic, footbal is a lifetme work for others that get money.
By watching TV is something normal but not addicted.
Damn....:lol::lol::lol:
What u say is so funny
But the sex thing is reallu Fuc&$d Up, did your mom and dad born you because they was addicted to sex LOL.
It's almost like you didn't read a word of my post. It's almost like you filled your head with things you wanted to hear. If you're truly 22 I feel very sorry for you.
I guess it's true what a lot of people say: "Never argue with an idiot, he'll drag you down to his level, and then beat you with experience". I don't think I've ever understood that saying until now. It's obviously impossible to have a conversation with this kid without him having to type random $hit that comes out of his ass. I mean come on, at least use spell check.
It's kind of like arguing with my 4 year old niece. And even she understands common sense....It was fun for a while, but now I actually think you're serious in what you say and how you say it. Continue to live in denial...just remember that one day you'll wake up to the real reality, that people can't blame everything that's wrong with their lives on games, movies, and TV.
Regardless, I'm going to have myself a nice New Year's day with my friends and family. Happy 08 Gamespot!

I have to admit it's a little amusing to read this while I try to configure my Vista. Damn thing is giving me problems again.
Keep on going, this thread is doing wonders for my post count.
