Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone can recommend MMORPGs where you can switch classes for your character, similar to Phantasy Star. I played Phantasy Star Universe before and enjoyed it for a while. It got kind of pointless after a while since you did the same usual missions for exp and money, and there wasnt much other content to enjoy. What I really liked about it though was that I could change my character class on the fly, and it made me somewhat more attached to them (as well as the character design). I also liked the fact thatI didnt have to start from scratch when I started a new class, and if we needed a healer/gunner, I could change in 5 mins and still be able to participate in the same level mission.

The only other games I know of that has class switching is FF11 and Silkroad (I think). I tried FF11 but couldnt find the patience to play it. It just felt really slow paced, the combat and the grind. So I basically passed on this one. I played Silkroad a while ago. Tons of botters and playing against players who were beefed up with mall items was somewhat a turn off to the mediocre game IMO. I like things to be more even and fair.

So anyone knows any MMORPGs titles, whether its f2p or p2p, that has class switching? Thanks.

After a certain point in Guild Wars you can change your secondary class to what every you want. Each class comes with a large number of skills. There is nothing that says you must use skills from your primary class. For example, your current character is a Ranger/Warrior. You decide the bow isn't for you, you can replace all of your ranger skills with warriors skills and keep going.

Guild Wars is pretty good for that like Drosa says, any town or outpost and you can respec your skill bar. And you can swap your secondary any time after doing a quest. Although you can spec yourself out with secondary only skills you won't be as good as primary of the same class, example would be that different primary classes have base levels for energy and armor rating, so tanking as a caster is bad, same as using spells as a tank. Still a lot of variety and you can always make pvp chars very quick.

If your looking for a free alternative, Runes of Magic has a dual class system where you can interchange between two classes. I haven't played much of it, but from a free MMO perspective it seems pretty solid with a large community to support it.
