Hey,

Looking for a new game. I have become bored with most recently, Guild Wars. I love the MMORPG style of play. In the past, games I have enjoyed are: Guild Wars (all 3), Runescape, and Anarchy Online. I am in the game mostly for actual gameplay, as well as community. Graphics are nice but not necessary. I enjoy the either mideival or magical type of gameplay. Quests are always a plus as well as again, an opportunity to gather as a community. I despise turn based games. Any help and recommendations are welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Guild Wars isn't an MMO. It's an online RPG.

The best MMOs at the moment are probably World of Warcraft, Rift and Lord of the Rings Online.

Massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) is a genre of role-playing video games in which a very large number of players interact with one another within a virtual game world.

How does guild wars not qualify for that? thank you nonetheless for the recommendation.

I shall recommend WoW, I hate the grinding and quit.. But it's fun for pvp if you have equal gear... Sure wish gear didn't apply to pvp. Suppose it's fun for pve for some people, but pve's pretty boring imo.

'cause it's not a persistent world where all the players can always meet up (outside of raids/bg's) like wow/eq/lotr are? maybe...??

To be honest, I am extremely skeptical of WoW. Watched it ruin too many people's social life and its 15/month. i am okay with paying, just not per month. Any other suggestions?

lol dude...did you get your sig from a porn site or webcam site? ANYWAY, as Im sure others will and have said theres: RIFT, WoW, LORTO, and some others but if you're willing to wait - Guild Wars 2 will be here next yearish. If you cant...like me...I have no idea what to tell you cuz Im jsut as stuck. I cant pay for MMOs but want to play one SO bad and I cant stand GW1.

LotRO is probably your best bet if you don't want to pay anything. If you don't mind paying, check out some free trials (most every MMORPG has one) and decide for yourself. Unfortunately, the "pay-to-play" ones all cost about $15 a month so...

APB is kind of cool.. its currently back in beta & despite this its pretty fn.. the servers when they feel like working the way theyre suppsoed to are flawless and very fun, finding a buddy and jsut pillaging as a gangster or bagging punks as a cop can get pretty fun.. like i spend my days free running atm and mugging folks for profit my weapon of choice atm for when im not doing that is a very class smg and i drive a blue car with some sweet art

the games got some outstanding customization if is a bit out of the way to get too and combat feels like it should.. jsut be sure to fully update punkbuster manually and ideally do some ort forwarding first.

Even more of a time sink than WoW, but a fantastic game nonetheless. I know many here will flame me for this, but RuneScape is a somewhat solid game for being a browser MMO that one can play casually to relax and enjoy himself. Other than that I'm afraid I don't have any recommendations unless you're willing to pay per month. Perhaps LOTRO?

Lord of the Rings Online hands down man. If you're skeptical or don't like the idea of WoW don't even bother with Rift. It's basically a WoW-clone with some customizable GUI. No I'm not saying it's exactly the same...but if you don't like one you won't like the other (and if you do like one you'll get bored with the other).

If you like action RPG you can check out Vindictus or TERA which is hopefully due this year. Both free to play.

I will say it is worth the money for WoW. I have played most MMO options out there and really WoW is the best. Any MMO can ruin your social life, its just you hear about WoW more because its played more.
