hi,

I like playing MMO's not that I really can get addicted to it (ever since i watched requiem for a dream) I just need something new that will satisfy me... I was planning on waiting for kotor online but still a long time for its release it seems... anyways .. the MMO's I've played so far:

-Knight Online (my first MMO was awesome in the days :P)

-World of Warcraft (started from day 1, quit up until wotlk i dont want to follow the game and where its heading anymore)

-Warhammer Online (solid MMO but last patch ruined it for me, don't even really want to log on anymore)

So basically I like PvP but I also like a fair share of PvE too I find a balance between both enjoyable. I don't figure on trying wotlk its only a avery small possibility to me now, aion online don't even get me started not looking forward to that in anyway. Anyways it can be pay2pay (prefarably) but what i want is:

-PvP and PvE

-Decent graphics smooth gameplay

-populated servers /w playable community

So if theres anythign that can fit my needs please tell me and give some explanation too if you can..

Thanks

It has been released, you buy the game from the forums strangely enough. Its pretty bad though, they really made a mess of it. Oh and try Age of Conan, its really picked up lately.

Aion isn't bad, I've been participating in the betas. I feel it as kind of a mix between WoW and Guild Wars....you'd have to play it for yourself. I wasn't into WoW very much - it was okay for a week or two at a time and then a few months off.... I wasn't a huge fan of Guild Wars, but I enjoyed it more then WoW. I think Aion is a nice fit between them. The community seemed nice, folk were willing to help and I especially enjoy the profanity filter - turn it off and anything goes - turn it on if you have a weak stomach for foul language. This might be an MMO that I would actually enjoy playing a few hours a night every day....just have to wait and see how the final product finishes out for the States.

You talking about AoC? If so dont really understand the CS or COD4 link :P What sort of MMO you looking for? Fantasy? Sci-fi? I dont particularly like WoW but theres a reason its the most successful one...its because the others more or less suck. Either that or they're not easily approachable for the average gamer (e.g. EVE online) Unfortunately the best option is to wait for the upcoming MMOs, since none of em are really worth that much attention IMO.

My MMORPG rant: The MMORPG genre has devolved into trash. What was once a promising genre filled with creativity and verve has turned into a genre operated by a few massive companies who have mastered the market and its demand. That demand, by large, is for risk-free, repetitive monster-whacking. Hence the threat of -forced- human interaction has been all but removed from most mainstream MMORPGs. It's little wonder we're left with the bland remnants of once-great titles such as Ultima Online. True, we have the rare occasion when companies try to harken to better days. Darkfall, in my view, was supposed to be the savior of the genre. Predictably, it failed to deliver. How could it, given its developer's size and the constitution of the market demand? The large, highly-skilled, and greatly-funded companies produce games that appeal to the lowest common denominator, and they do so admirably. Witness WOW and its commercial success. Darkfall simply doesn't have the resources--either on the development side or the demand side--to blossom into a true competitor. And it certainly hasn't signalled a shift in the genre. So when I read your thread title, I alternatively grimaced and chuckled. I know of no respectable title with the mix of attributes you listed. I myself have opted out of the genre altogether in pursuit of more fruitful--and less frustrating--gaming.

Just wait till Star Wars: The Old Republic comes out, that game will dominate! Every other MMO out there will shudder when they mention its name. link to their site: http://www.swtor.com/

Well I'd have to agree with you all,

warhammer online is making me sick at the moment the new patch just didnt appeal to me i feel left out and just don't even want to play it anymore

When kotor online does come out i will do every ability to make it great and do my best not to get fed up with it (e.g. bugs, lag etc etc)

The post before though summed it up pretty good for me

WoW started off great for me actually then it became more and more of a no-brainer until now with 5-10 second lasting fights and duels its outrageous

anyways... i have high hopes for kotor online

guess ill just stick to non-mmo genres for now.. :(

MMO's in general suck ***. I'm hopeful for TOR but realistically it will probably just follow the same pattern as all others..

In a week it comes out for N.A And a few expansion or w/e fixed everything and added amazing amounts of content appearently and a lot of people are going back to this almost new game.

I'm enjoying LotRO at the moment, great mmo in my eyes, but I do love the books and films. Played WoW for to long now, did not it enjoy it anymore, I tried Runes of Magic but its terrible, just a repetative grind fest of quests. Jenks

Age of Conan sounds right up yer alley. I'm waiting on Champions Online until Star Wars, but there's not much pvp there.

MMO's certainly need to head toward a new direction. A game shouldnt be based around grinding and farming. All MMO's are based around that. Longer it takes the more money these company's soak up in money. Its fruitless and lame.
