Please help, I was just finishing up building my new computer and when I plug everything in there was a loud pop and a spark shot up. Looked like it came from the bottom right corner! The wierd thing is that the led lights on the MOBO go on when I let power threw the computer. Now it won't boot! Could it still be my MOBO even though the lights come on, just the Power Switch wire (from the case), or is it something else. Please help! This is my MOBO.

Thank you!

BTW Here is my MSN username. So it is easier to chat. I am on most of the time.

I had a spark (and pop) from my motherboard trying to clear cmos with the power cord still attached once.

I think you shorted something on the motherboard out or have a exposed wire somewhere.

But my computer won't boot but the led lights are still lit on the MOBO. It did this before any of this ever happened. It took me several tries annd then it turned on it pop'd! I'm thinking there is something wrong with the power switch on the computer case.

The second time it shorted out, the power supply stoped working for about a hour, then it came back to life?????? (i know cause i tried a different psu)

I also did a clear cmos that Might have been what fixed it, i dont know? or maybe some kind of protection in the psu??

It could be a short in the PSU, I've had the same thing happen before. And I just swaped the PSU and it strated right up. But it could be a short in the mother board. The best thing to do in the dreaded "my PC wont even boot" problem is to just start swiching out parts such as RAM, CPU, PSU. It could be any of them that shorted.

You could do a clear cmos, plus unplug the main power conector from the motherboard and plug it back in.

And then let the computer sit unlpuged for about a hour.

And maybe you might have to take it all apart and make sure the motherboard isent touching the case, and look for exposed wires

One of the switches could be in the wrong place too.

It must be your PSU. That video card takes a lot of power.

Nah it wasn't my Video Card, it was my WIFI adpater in the PCI slot. Anyways my power supply is dead, my motherboard is bugged, and my video card won't fit in the PCI express slot correctly because of the case. So I'm pretty unlucky guy. But I'm going to keep on truck'n, and get it till it works. When it works we all need to play a game or something cause you all have been alot of help. Especially the chick, with the big fluffy animal costum as here sig, thanks alot.

Return Merchandise Authorization, which allows you to return a product for a refund or exchange.

I don't believe so, I think the re-stocking fee only applies to returns, not exchanges.
