I find it funny how they stole the motion tracker design from aliens, these guys seriously need to get some originality.
Baranga
And what were they supposed to do? It's the most logical design possible.
I don't think it beeped though:P
a rubber hand on a spring that pops out and points at the enemy
I was extremely disappointed that Call of Duty 4 went the special forces/spy route. Thats not a valid complaint here as this isnt even a Call of Duty game (...), but I will say that the trailer reminded me of every generic action movie i've seen in the past few years.
I'll pass on this one.

He's alot more original than IW will ever be, IW even ripped off a scene from enemy at the gates.
plus the storyline in cod4 is oddly like rainbow six.

original ideas that end up being fun are hard to have... feel free to become a game developer and prove everyone wrong

Enemy of the gates was a hollywood movie, not a true potrayal of vasilli zaitsev's life in stalingrad.
And MOD MAKERS have some great fresh ideas! mainstream game's like modern warfare are just cash in titles.

I didn't say it was a true portrayal, I am saying the movie was made with his actions in mind, therefore it was not original... and therefore "ripped-off" as you like to put it... it isn't a difficult concept

there is a difference between being inspired by a story like enemy at the gates was and totally ripping off something like infinity ward is doing with the motion sensor, it even has the same dot movement style.
But what did I think of the game, you ask? Well, it looked exactly like the past half dozen Call of Duty games. Segment upond segments of pre-rendered scenes with simpleton shooting.
The first will always be the best.
Besides, the multiplayer is what everyone likes.

I think there would be some larger battles instead of all special force missions. If you ever seen the reveal gameplay trailer there would be some urban combat against rebels in Brazil(correct me if I'm wrong). Also I think Infinity Wards don't like spoiling the best levels of the game to people and save the best for people to experience themselves. In E3 07, they've only showed the All Ghillied Up mission, although it was amazing there were other epic levels that IW don't want to spoil.
[QUOTE="Baranga"]this makes me sad for humanity. how could such a vague trailer that shows near nothing "blow you away"? i am anticipating the game and hope it will be good, but the trailer was meh at bestI thought it was awesome, totally blew me away.

It showed it's again like some sort of interactive movie. The 5 minutes of gameplay were really cool. Loved the atmosphere.
You don't need originality to make a delicious hamburger.

Maybe some of us don't expect as much from a game as you.... maybe for some of us as long as the game is fun and we have a good time it's good enough...I thought it was awesome, totally blew me away.

by that logic nothing is orginal.
this thread, along with the throng of haters who already call it a disappointment because of a trailer, cannot change the fact that MW2 will sell a million copies within the first day of its release and 3 mil within the first week. i will be one of those people. have fun with the hating, boyz. ;)
Exactly....Call of Duty series has reach an excellence of quality, action, cinematic and gameplay both in SP and MP that not many FPS can even dream about... Hate it all you want haters.... COD is still the BEST war game (past and modern) ever created....this thread, along with the throng of haters who already call it a disappointment because of a trailer, cannot change the fact that MW2 will sell a million copies within the first day of its release and 3 mil within the first week. i will be one of those people. have fun with the hating, boyz. ;)

But you can't deny....what a hell of a weekend that is.....did they show any MP gameplay ? cause jugding any cod game on a SP trailer is pointless, SP lasts for one weekend anyway. cod is all about multiplayer
crapdog
Why is that.... I looked at the trailer and it has graphics and movement that are nearly life-like. Also, the gameplay in the ice was great...a bit of sneak and action, yeah yeah, they copied the motion sensor from Aliens...so what. If it's even half of what MW1 produced....it will be great...like all CODs...From what i've seen, MW2 looks terrible.

No, just no, that is an insult to the more creative developers out there.
hidden and dangerous 2 is a better quality game and more enjoyablethan the ww2 cods
red orchestra is better quality and more enjoyablethan the ww2 cods
combat mission, il2 sturmovik, brothers in arms, blitzkrieg, men of war etcall these are better.
Modern war:
Operation flashpoint is a more enjoyableand better qualitygame than cod 4
rainbow six raven shield is a better game than cod4 will ever be.
arma is a better game with much more replay value and better gameplaythan cod4
etc etc etc
COD4 and COD2 will never be as good as these games.
and i want to play aGAME not an interactive movie, this series has become tripe, thegreatestcod was united offensive, because the gameplay wasnt actually dumbed down.

There is no recoil on the guy now and they are too easy to use, dumbed down is a good term for it, and the guns in cod4 sound like pea shooters.
i don't find the repetitiveness of cod4's online fun, and unlocks and ranks are nothing but a gimmick

Baranga
That's like saying gaining levels in a RPG is a gimmick.
precisely; it would be totally gimmicky if they didn't impliment it in a very fluid and genuinely useful way, but they pulled it off perfectly. I relish the fact that there will be some (hopefully a lot) new perks and unlocks, especially with the new Special Forces mode and better weapons. It looks pretty darn awesome. They announced they would be releasing TWO map packs as DLC.. since the game is months away.. just shows they will be purposely leaving out content to sell it later as DLC on consoles. Companies that do that sort of rubbish lose my respect completely. It'll just be another high quality single player campaign which is awesome the first time through.. but as usual it'll be incredibly short and have no replayabilty. So multilayer is where it'll really be.Rattlesnake_8Probably not the developers choice. I doubt many developers would want to screw over their fans, but i am sure as hell publishers (Activision.... which i am not huge fans off... thank you for milking everything) do not exactly care. They know people will pay for it and publishers just want the money so when people will pay publishers will screw us over. Also the demo seemed more meh than anything. I was a i've been there done that kind of game. It is basically what i think happened to Halo. Halo just became a game that we have already seen and have already played. CoD4 was brand new. We had never had a modern warfare CoD yet and it looked really good. Now though it seems like i've already seen the game they just showed off. It really didn't excite me like i was expecting it to.
