Generally speaking, a 12 GB game will take a while to download no matter where you download it from. It told me it would take something like 12 hours to download. I just said forget it.

Dont even bother. This game is so bad. Is the trial reallya good representation of MW2 online?

Its the most dull, bland, and unchallenging thing I have ever played.

If you have any decent online shooter, it is better and more relevant, no matter how old, than this game. TFC, TF2, CS, BF: BC2, BF2, BF 2142, the list goes on

I knew the game was going to be bad, but I fai lto see how anyone other than console gamers can enjoy this thing

It's a Steamworks game (it's basically an Steam exclusive game, you'll need Steam even for the retail version) and it's a Steam free weekend...you can't download it from another place.

I've had it on for 12 hours now (since i have been awake) and still have 20% left to download. I can't really justify it, was hoping to have a go this evening but am not thinking I will be able to now

I have all those games you listed minus classic and I still enjoy MW2 a lot....... there goes your theory.

In fact... come to think of it, I like it a lot more than BF2, BF2142, TF2 and BC2. But CSS is my favorite game... so I'll agree on that one.

I thought I pre-downloaded it but when I got to playing it tonight it started downloading it all over again. I said screw it and went back to BC2. Might have been cause I was low on space on the drive steam is installed, sucks that you can't change the directory after steam is installed, and sucks that I wasted time downloading it.

Well I downloaded it on a whim, I doubted that my computer could play it but viola it works! Btw it took me around 5-6 hours to download/install and start playing.

I'm not a big fan of shooters, I prefer RPGs/RTS Games, but so far it's very fun. And for anyone wondering it doesn't give you the campaign. It has become a bit repetitive with the maps but I enjoy all the different "play-styles" (free-for-all, team etc...). Now keep in mind besides a few times on half life two I've never played an FPS online with other's before. I have no reason to hate a game simply because it's popular, not that kind of person... But to each his own. :)

By the way, if I can play this game could I play Left for dead 2? Many of my friends play but I've hestitated on spending $30-50 on something that won't play.

What ruined the game to me is that you can't choose the map and there are too many campers! The game awards you for camping with powerful killstreaks...

Yeah he's like this in other topics as well, thinks his opinion overrides other peoples.

At any rate I just prefer fast paced more unpredictable multiplayer FPS games, the ones listed before were all games with frontline combat... if you could call it that? Where there's basically one killing area and every game is a sort of tug of war that generally boils down to choke point after choke point.

So for me I prefer CSS, CoD4, MW2, UT3 and L4D1/2 if that counts? I wouldn't exactly call that poor taste in multi FPS games....

It's a steam game, you can only download it through steam. Buy CoD4 instead.

not necessarily accurate.

Steam will let you download at 1mb a sec if you have a connection that allows it...

this will make a 12gb game ready to play in under 4 hours.

60 megs to a minute, 3600 megs (3.6gigs) an hour.

is the game worth it, not for a day... is the game good, yes,

is the game worth 60 dollars, no ( more around the 30-45$ mark)

are there better online shooters out there, yes

are there worse online shooters out there, yes literally more than you can count.

it is overhyped.. and overbashed... it is a good game, and great multiplayer, but not the best

I'm honestly surprised at the hate-on for MW2. It's not without its faults, but neither is BC2. It's still a fun, solid multiplayer experience.. lots of unlocks and lots of customization. I actually started playing the single player this weekend, and it's pretty nice so far :) I know it's not long, but considering how little I play SP.. I don't mind.

I've been playing the game, and it has some improvements, like the weapons and those cool badges. But I will post my impressions on the blog, impressive thing is, I didn't run into ANY hackers, but I already thought it was BS.

the "there is a hacker in every match" crap is pure bs...

of course there are hackers, but i really dont run into significantly any more than any other game. Including modern warfare 1

I agree. I've quite enjoyed playing online to the point where I would consider a purchase if the price was right. As for lack of dedicated servers, I didn't mind as much as I thought I would, especially when I wanted to play only a few matches. I found I was in a match quickly and seemlessly. Fun game, wish I had more time to play.

Well, this doesn't work for Brazil. I can only find good games fast in Team Deathmatch. Every other mode takes like, 5 or 7 minutes to get lobbies together, etc.

From what I've played so far, my summary of the game would be good, but a lot of room for improvement. Hell even some minor tweaks could make the game 100% better. Changes I would personally make: -Remove OP kill streak bonuses, on a round I played on Wasteland I was the only person to get a kill on my team because one guy on the other team snowballed out of control with the Harrier -> Apache -> Tactical Nuke kill streak bonuses -A couple of Akimbo combinations are OP and need to be nerfed, specifically dual Rangers and dual Rafficas -The marathon + lightwieght + commando combination is a bit OP especially when a guy can close the distance and knife you faster than you can draw your weapon without slight of hand pro -A gun that is spraying bullets should not be 90% as accurate as one that is firing in bursts -leave the matchmaking option but bring back dedicated servers as well, your game will have much more staying power (and potential sales) if you allow atleast a moderate modding community -drop the price to $50 all the time and 30-40 on sales Like I said its already a fun game, but as is I would not pay $50-60 dollars for it, especially with the likes of TF2 going for $20.

It works pretty well here... Only a few seconds to find a match (Rio de Janeiro) (Played Search & Destroy and Domination)

Well I just played the best hacked game ever.. global thermonuclear war mode. Ground War # of people, one capture point in the middle of terminal and it'd take forever to cap but wouldn't reset your progress. Once it's capped, a nuke goes off for your team...

Too bad though, with dedicated servers I could play that game mode all the time :)
