Interesting article on Eurogamer about how EA removed a note that said the new Medal of Honour was 10 hours long.

They're not suggesting it is between 5-15 hours!!

My favourite comment on the site is by far: "15 hours if you occasionally fall asleep"

Source: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-10-25-ea-reckons-the-medal-of-honor-single-player-campaign-can-range-from-five-to-15-hours

God speed if anyone has to endure 15 hours of Warfighter.

Giantbomb played through a third of the levels in like 40 minutes during their quicklook, and they weren't going for speed at all.

Yeah, Brad was....less then good playing the game. I'm sure most shooter fans will breeze past those parts in half that time.

It's not a good game, it has its moments, but the single player is mostly a big bland joke.

I laugh at people who play those games for the singlepalyer. Those kind of game are meant for competitive multiplayer guys, only a fraction of people buys Cod,BF and MoH games for singleplayer experience.

Well, apparently the multiplayer isn't anything special either.

I normally buy CoD for ALL the modes: SP, MP and Zombies/Spec Ops. It's the best way to get the full worth out of the game.

Realistically more like 5-8 hours long. I enjoyed it for what it is, but apparently people are outraged that the clearly linear arcadish military FPS campaign turned out to be a clearly linear arcadish military FPS campaign, as one would expect from any game in the MOH franchise.

Oh c'mon. Its not a question of the FEEL of the game or the mechanics themselves. Its because we've seen the exact same product produced again and again without any attempt at innovation or new scenarios.

BF has always been primarily MP focused. The first COD and Medal of Honour games, if you've played them, were rated heavily on their campaigns. The MP was an afterthought till COD4.

Today games are a packaged. You should be looking at all aspects given how expensive they are.

What's a shame to me is MoH is getting the treatment that we should see more of for COD chasing shooters.

Sorry but two of the most overrated shooters this gen are Bad Company 2 and Battelfield 3. Bad Co 2 was not as good as Bad Co 1, yet got better reviews. The maps in BC2 sucked, and the single player was no better than BC1 if that. BC1 maps like Oasis and Harvest day blow away anything in Bad Co 2. Yeah you had perks...that alone should have also been a knock. If Bad Co 1 gets an 8.5, Bad Co 2 should have gotten a 7.5-8.

Then you look at BF3. BF3 single player is a joke. Its awful. BF3 launch maps were terrible. Only half of them were truly Battlefield worthy. This was supposed to be a successor to BF2, yet what we got was a Bad Company/BF hybrid. More perks...another COD knock. The Co-op is decent...not any better than what most games have. Commander? gone. Commander assets? gone. Then there is the slogan which gives the whole game focus away "Above and Beyond the Call". Instead of an original successor to BF2, we got a COD chaser version. It should have been called out for that. Another 7.5-8 should have been the max on this one.

Who cares about the length as long as the quality is good. I just finished "Mark of the Ninja". Took me 7 hours but it was awesome all the way through.

How many of these rehashed BF, MoH and CoD games will gamers keep purchasing until they realize that their paying $60+ for nothing more than a slightly updated, nothing new, piece of (been there done that) CRAP!!!

Pretty sure mark of the ninja isn't a $60 blockbuster game from one of the biggest publishers in the business, though. Standards are different.:P

I understand that, but also budgets are different on each game. It doesn't cost the same to make Mark of the Ninja against for example Call of Duty. My point is that people concentrate too much on the LENGTH of the game, and ignore the quality. Now I can't talk about MoH since I haven't played it yet, but Tier 1 was actually pretty good (I never played MP). Saying that, a game like MoH will give you the 6-7 hours long campaign, and then countless hours of MP.

Well that's a shame. MoH Tier 1 was pretty good imo.

Is this one that much worse?

THe Medal of Honor franchise clearly sucks, and Danger Close is not experienced enough to have the keys to an entire franchise to themselves. If EA was smart, they'd find a way to get Respawn on the series or releasing their biannual games, but instead we get this garbage.

I'd stick to Sector Control and Combat Mission modes. Combat Mission is a bit like Rush but not as much of a linear chokepoint like in BF games which is why I barely touched Rush mode. As far as attachments go, opt for attachments that give longer effective range like heavy barrel, agility isn't an issue since you can lean.

True. Although it seems, according to almost every review, that MOH is 5 hours of crap. And I've got plenty of games in my backlog that will provide 15+ hours of awesomeness.

several missions into the game; seem to be as I've mentioned, pretty "standard" cinematic shooter stuff.

however, the car chase mission is incredible @6100x1080 surround! not anything unique gameplay wise, but the amazing graphic makes it one of the more memorable game moments for me. the rare occasion that visual actually makes decisive impact on gaming experience.

I finished it in 5 hours. My tired thoughts below.

Previously my modern military shooter ranking looked like this: Treyarch COD >>> IW COD >>>>>>MOH2010 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Homefront >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> infinity and beyond >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> BF3

MoH Worf Fighter floats somewhere in between MOH2010 and Homefront.

I loved the narrative, characters and tone of the previous game. I'm the kind of person that likes cheesy Bay/Emmerich America F*ck Yeah stories and Tom Clancy thrillers with Russian bad guys. I dislike schmaltzy "americanisms". I don't give a f*ck about America's heroes and flag and all that.

And yet MOH2010 made me care about those guys. Not just because they had badass beards. The ending was devastating.

Warfighter almost completely lost that charm. Now, I understand the story was written by actual Tier 1 guys and many levels are based on real events. But I didn't care at all about anything! There's nothing wrong with the Tom Clancy side of the story, but I don't think any developer ever screwed that one up. All the stuff about Preacher's wife is just horrific. A bad idea with awful execution. And the ending went full Spielberg with schmaltz, a far cry from MOH2010's chilling end sequence.

I also missed the jumping between teams. In MOH2010 you get four different perspectives. In Warfighter you mostly play as one dude in a COD-styIe world tour. In 2010 you switched teams at key points. You played as a marine, then switched to the pilot that rescued him, then cleared the mountainside as Dusty for the hurt pilot. It made so much sense, despite hoping all over the valley! Warfighter lost coherency and there's no meaningful relationship between the characters.

Finally, the chaos went up a notch. It doesn't feel as down to earth and authentic as MOH2010. It's still nowhere near COD's Bay-isms or Homefront's cruelty. But it just, you know, doesn't feel as good as before.

By the way, this must be the first shooter where the driving levels are the best parts of the game... Even weirder is that they were developed by Criterion and the game seems to load a different executable for them. They're truly stunning. I wouldn't mind a full game like that!

The art and sound are as strong as in MOH2010 and this time they have one hell of an engine to work with. However I'm not sure what happened to the water. For a game that features so much of it, it sure looks bad! The atmosphere and graphical design of the locations are incredible. I especially enjoyed the Sarajevo levels.

Warfighter was obviously rushed. It must've been hell to learn a new engine and deliver a new campaign in just two years. It's unpolished and I couldn't escape the feeling that the whole thing was held together by duct tape and prayers. Thankfully the shooting and movement are very similar to MOH2010's. I was afraid it may share BF3's jankiness, but it's all fine.

It's a very decent shooter by itself but pales badly in comparison to its predecessor.

thats true in this day and age but there was a time when these sort of games came with decent campaigns.

for the money they charge for the game they should provide a solid experience for both

The linear level design depends on what game you play. Titles like Call of Duty, Battlefield Bad Company and MoH have a mostly linear approach. Doesn't mean they are bad, they are still fun (I haven't played Warfighter yet), but less freedom how to tackle situations. Titles like ArmA for example are more simulation, with multiple ways to finish missions.

The range of completing it is greater than the time, that you could complete it in? Why would they even describe it that way.

Did some reviewer that was part of the team doing this fall asleep, or something?

Despite how awfully dull and boring this is, it's still better than any CoD campaign. At the very least it has pretty graphics and great sound. Controls are smooth (except for peak and lean) and actually flows well unlike CoD (at any point.) Driving sections are actually really fun. If the other parts of the game played like a R6 Vegas game, and it included co-op, I think this game would've actually been fun to play.

Oh wow, that isn't good.

Sounds like maybe a game (or save) file was corrupt locking up his HDD.

Its these that are some of the reasons why (for most games) I usually wait a month, or two after launch.

Remember SCII frying GPUs at the main menu, thats another example.

I thought the SC2 thing was all a hoax ? Anyway, it's weird cause it would have saved in different waypoints, but he lost all his saves, and even all his configurations (like key bindings, graphic options etc). It's like the game went back to default install.

It could of been a hoax, I don't know.

I was mainly just talking about all the initial launch bugs, and inevitable right after launch patches. That are to fix issues in the game. Sometimes those issues are like described above. That is if it is a wide spread thing. If not then it might be more specific to his rig, which is a scarier thought for him.

Well I've played about 2 hours of the SP Campaign. So far enjoying it. It's nothing new or revolutionary, just plain guns and explosion fun. Has anyone tried the MP?
