I got an LG monitor that had a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050, 10,000:1 contrast ratio, and has an enhanced display feature. My video card is Nvidia 8600 GT. When I don't use the enhanced visual feature, I notice the monitor is brighter at the top, bottom, left, and right sides; brighter than the middle section. When I use the enhanced visual feature, I notice it's fine in the preview mode before I save the setting, but as soon as I save it and go out of preview mode, it gets blurrier, and the display has issues refreshing -- if you open a new window or something, it gets brighter for a split second, and then go back down to how the brightness should be. And it does that with every new image it displays, so it hurts my eyes. What I'm thinking is the problem is that the monitor is a 16:10 aspect ratio, while most monitors are 16:9. Is the problem an incompatibility between the 8600 GT and 16:10 aspect monitors? When I go into the Nvidia control panel and try to create a custom resolution that's 16:9, it doesn't let me, so I'm thinking there is an incompatibility between the monitor and the card.

I...seriously doubt that. The 8800GT should be able to output in a resolution that is native to the LCD screen. It's more likely to be a problem with the screen itself, try adjusting the brightness settings and turning off any other features that the monitor may have.

Guys, I really need help. Are 16:10 aspect monitors noncompatible with some video cards? Also, are 16:10 aspect monitors the new or upcoming standard? I seem to find a few more of these now. I thought 16:9 was the standard?

Sorry! I have an 8600 GT; not 8800. I have dyslexia.

I have an 8600GT, it drives 16:10 monitors fine. Like I said in my earlier post, it's most likely a problem within your monitor.

Most widescreen monitors are 16:10, your card will have no trouble driving a monitor at this aspect ratio. 16:9 is really more of a TV thing. Have you tried updating your graphics drivers? If the monitor is still under warranty and the problem is bad enough it may just be easier to return the monitor for an exchange.
