With payday in a couple days plus black friday im hoping to snag a deal updating my desktop. While im pretty knowlegdeable when it come to the pros and cons of Regular Lcd and plasma televisions, Desktop monitors seem to operate in slightly different ways. With lcd monitors, how much response times and contrast ratio is decent or pretty good?

Also, can anyone recommend some keyboards and mouse. Ergonomic preferably but not a must.

LOL that monitor is orange... :D

Just look for ~24"+ with low response times to prevent ghosting... and resolution support you want... I bought a Dell 24" 1080p for only $350... and it works flawlessly... I have my PC plugged into it through DVI, 360 through VGA, and PS3 through HDMI and all work fine and display perfect 1080p... I highly recommend it... and Dell will most definitely be having sales after Thanksgiving...

Actually i dont want or need a 1080p monitor as I already have a 32"bravia (720p) where most of my gaming is done. But for generla web surfing and MMOs i would like a better monitor. Currently Im on a Dell 17" crt so 22" or less would suffice.

if he has a 24" computer monitor it probably has a higher resolution than 1080p. tv resolutions are different than computer monitors. if you get a 24" monitor your resolution will be 1920X1200 which is higher than 1080p. but for black friday you probably can get a good deal on a 22" monitor which is 1680x1050. probably can get one for less than $200

I have a few naive questions: Do all 24" monitors (with a native resolution of 1900x1200) have a setting that allows you to see movies in true HD (i.e. a ####x1080 setting)? If I recall, the aspect ratio for monitors is different than movies - 16:10 for monitors, 16:9 for movies. Will movies be distorted when viewed through a monitor? What happens when you play an older PC game on a widescreen - will there be distortions? I imagine some old games are not widescreen-compatible.
